We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Manufacturing Manager to lead our production team in a Medical Device manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in engineering, a proven track record of driving lean production initiatives, and experience in managing maintenance and equipment to ensure optimal operational performance.
Objective:
This role oversees the daily operations of the manufacturing floor, drives continuous improvement efforts, ensures high-quality standards, and manages the maintenance of all production equipment in compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Manufacturing Operations Management:
- Lead and manage the manufacturing team to meet production goals, timelines, and quality standards.
- Ensure effective execution of production plans by scheduling, coordinating resources, and overseeing daily operations.
- Monitor production metrics and KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Ensure that all products meet quality specifications and are manufactured in accordance with approved procedures and documentation.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to resolve any non-conformances, deviations, or complaints.
Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement:
- Drive Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) across the production process to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and improve overall efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on increasing productivity, reducing lead times, and improving product quality.
- Implement best practices in production processes while promoting a culture of innovation and process optimization.
- Provide technical leadership to troubleshoot production challenges and drive solutions that align with engineering specifications.
Equipment Maintenance and Reliability:
- Oversee the maintenance of all production equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Responsible for the preventative maintenance program for all production machinery, tools, and systems, including tracking and analyzing performance metrics.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and technical issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of critical production equipment by managing repairs, calibrations, and replacements.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to manufacturing staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Foster a people centric culture within the manufacturing organization anchored by the Ambu values.
- Ensure all team members are treated with respect and dignity in the workplace.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff competency in lean practices, safety, equipment operations, and maintenance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support the growth of team members through skill development and career progression.
- Comply with all company policies and ensure consistent and fair application as they relate to managing employees.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Promote a safe and healthy working environment by enforcing HSE standards, conducting regular safety audits, and managing risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Assist in the preparation and management of the production budget, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
- Identify areas to reduce costs without compromising product quality or regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications (preferred):
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment- ideally within the Medical Device or life sciences industries, but other backgrounds will be considered.
- Proven experience in leading lean production initiatives and improving manufacturing processes.
- Strong background in mechanical and industrial engineering with the ability to translate engineering designs into efficient manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing maintenance and equipment reliability within a production environment, ideally in a highly regulated industry.
- Familiarity with process requirements for the medical device industry (ISO 13485, FDA, etc.) preferred.

- In-depth knowledge of production scheduling, capacity planning, materials management, and maintenance best practices.
- Familiarity with manufacturing technologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems and manufacturing software is a plus.
