Stantec Consulting Services Inc. (Stantec) is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager as part of our dynamic nature-base solutions (NbS) program in the Northeastern United States. The ideal candidate will bring 15 years of technical and administrative experience to collaborate with our multidisciplinary professional team to identify and provide NbS services to public, private, and non-governmental organization clients.

Your Opportunity

This role is designed to be a dynamic platform for expanding Stantec's NbS services to meet growing demand. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of current projects and program to integrate Stantec's wide range of professional services into both existing and new NbS markets.

A background in restoration ecology, ecological engineering, fluvial geomorphology, ecological program management or a related field, and a thorough understanding of the physical, biological and regulatory processes related to restoring aquatic resources and riparian habitats is expected. Based on your interest, you will be afford the opportunity to participate in nature-based solutions projects ranging from ecosystem restoration to climate resilience to sustainable development goals - we encourage our team to pursue their individual passion. We have deep staff resources to assist you with your work. Successful candidates will be comfortable handling project development, management, administration. The candidate will provide support for Nature-based Solutions projects including proposal development through reporting and assessment. The role is client-facing with an expectation that you will have and continue to develop strong collaborative relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders. You will serve as an ambassador for nature-based solutions and ecosystem restoration, lead and support development of opportunities for growth of the nature-based solutions program, provide mentorship to junior staff and strengthen relationships with other disciplines within Stantec.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Stantec's existing regional, national and International NbS teams
  • Provide technical and administrative (project management) support for ongoing NbS-focused projects
  • Grow and foster a broad range of key client and stakeholder relationships throughout the NbS market
  • Identify technical resources within Stantec to increase our capacity to provide diverse NbS-focused services
  • Identify opportunities for growth of our NbS program (e.g., clients and client-specific opportunities) through business development
  • Identify deficiencies and corrective measures for our NbS program (e.g., areas of technical expertise for which our current resources are sparse)
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration between Stantec's internal business units to increase integration of NbS services.

Nature-based solutions (NbS), sometimes referred to as engineering with nature, is a design approach that leverages the positive benefits of natural systems in conjunction with traditional engineering. Weaving natural features and processes into our design work increases long-term human, ecological, and infrastructure resilience to climate change and other environmental impacts. The Nature-based Solutions team exemplifies these commitments to biodiversity, climate resilience, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable development goals.

Stantec currently integrates NbS services across multiple business lines. Our Community Development teams are focused on designs that harmoniously integrate opportunities for active and passive recreation with natural resource restoration and hazard mitigation in coastal communities. Our Transportation teams are focused on resiliency of transportation infrastructure that accommodates and improves natural resources. Our Water and Infrastructure teams are focused on maintaining infrastructure that is reliable and resilient to reduce impacts to natural resources that we depend on. Stantec's NbS program is centered in our Environmental Services business unit and provides a holistic and forward-looking team that is focused on identifying and applying NbS best practices.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience in leadership, project management, staff supervision, and client management
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental, or related field required
  • Prior experience providing Project Management for nature-based solutions projects
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in a professional services setting

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
