Network Engineer

Overview

SOSi is currently seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team in Fort Meade, MD.

Essential Job Duties

• Responsible for building and maintaining the day-to-day operation of the organization's intranet, extranet, and wide area network
• Monitoring network and network security systems
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems.
• Perform network management services to ensure desktop and application performance/availability.
• Resolve escalated customer requests and provide engineering or network solutions to ensure successful resolution of system problems.
• Manage and administer network systems and resources for the program's IT infrastructure.
• Perform installation design, procure, and install new cabling, equipment, and associated hardware and software to extend and/or enhance existing services.
• Manage enterprise and domain architectures with the objective to maximize performance and service levels to enterprise and domain-level users.
• Monitor networks, using existing domain-level specific tools, ensuring switch and router health, network performance, and security.
• Perform operational and maintenance activities for all network systems to ensure data integrity and security.
• Evaluate network system performance and make recommendations for improving performance.
• Provide service escalation support (Tier 2 and Tier 3) to the respective help desk/call centers for resolution of incidents.

Minimum Requirements

• Active in scope SECRET clearance.
• DoD 8570.01 IAT level II (CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) or higher is required.
• Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
• Strong knowledge on implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.
• Deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
• Understanding of disaster recovery, COOP, and experience providing data backup and restore as required
• Thorough knowledge of Cisco routing utilizing several VLANS over both copper and fiber and strong experience in deploying and managing CISCO network equipment.
• Experience recommending and implementing policies and procedures to ensure adherence to security standards.
• Experience with researching new technologies and recommending technology solutions; interfacing with other technical professionals as required; and ensuring integrity, availability, confidentiality, and security of information systems.

Work Environment

• Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
• Full time (5 days a week) on-site at Fort Meade, MD.
• Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• May require periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends (if applicable).
