Job Announcement

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Staff Development and Training, this position serves as a clinical supervisor to staff performing direct services and casework to individuals and families receiving services from divisions within the Department of Family Services which include Adult and Aging; Children, Youth, and Families; and Domestic and Sexual Violence Services. Serves as an integral member of the DFS Professional Development and Training (PDT) Team. Performs the following duties: provides individual and group clinical supervision to direct services staff seeking clinical licensure. Provides in-house clinical training offerings that meet CEU criteria for certain clinical licensing purposes and overall support clinical professional development opportunities. Keeps records and documentation of clinical supervision and trainings; provides clinical expertise to support staff s accrual of supervised hours needed to gain clinical licensure; coordinates with administrative supervisor as needed. Participates in team and agency-level meetings and other duties essential to supporting staff seeking clinical licensure. Ensures agency goals, policies and procedures are met and that program remains in compliance with all DFS, local and state and federal regulations. May also administratively supervise other clinicians.

Provides staff supervision for all clinical aspects of the program;
Plans, assigns, and reviews work of team members;
Interviews and selects candidates for various positions;
Consults with professionals on a variety of problems including delivery of needed services for clinically complex cases;
Develops and implements program activities and services, including training and educational activities;
Under direction, develops and implements a specialized program which is designed to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of service provision;
Supervises day-to-day program operations;
Promotes awareness of program services through presentations;
Develops and monitors program's policies and procedures;
Ensures that program is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and statutes;
Mediates and facilitates inter-and intra-program issues needing a systems perspective.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college with at least a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing plus three years of clinical experience or a doctoral degree in psychology, social, counseling or nursing plus one year of clinical experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer.

This position is considered essential personnel and will be required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency situation (i.e., weather, transportation, other disaster).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The ability to provide supportive supervision in the context of systemic program requirements related to mandated services such as protective services and case management services, and court orders; addressing both strengths and challenges of the supervisee, modeling, and discussing ethical practice; uses a coaching model to provide professional mentoring, evaluation, and feedback; and engages with administrative case supervisors as needed to discuss case needs and outcomes.
  • The incumbent will maintain functional knowledge of best practices related to adult, aging, and disabled populations; children, youth and families; and victims, survivors, and perpetrators of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking.
  • The incumbent will use their understanding of systemic processes to provide clinical supervision that supports the legal and policy requirements of the Department and respective divisions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent must be able to use technology to perform duties related to this position which include (but are not limited to) Microsoft Office, electronic meeting platforms to host meetings and training, and have the ability to enter data and create written reports.
