Job Description

The Senior Product Manager ensures that the right product is being created within the right timeline. As a key member of the Products Team, the Senior Product Manager will partner with clients, engineering teams, project managers, and technical teams to enable delivery of high-quality software products to county government clients. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for identifying scope and prioritize work for an agile software team. The Senior Product Manager will match and prioritize the features and functionality of the product to obtain maximum performance to the benefit of the end-user. This work includes receiving and reviewing enhancement requests against product goals. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for identifying up front what success looks like, and measure whether product enhancements being implemented will result in that success.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervisory responsibilities are matrixed in nature and vary situationally. The Senior Product Manager will oversee Associate Product Managers. They are also responsible to lead varied stakeholders towards product enhancements and/or project completion. The Senior Product Manager partners closely with Project Managers and other team members and is comfortable both giving and receiving direction.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Product Strategy and Vision:
    • Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with company goals and customer needs.
    • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for new products or enhancements to existing products.
    • Collaborate with senior management to ensure product strategies are aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Product Lifecycle Management:
    • Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch and post-launch optimization.
    • Prioritize product features and initiatives based on business value, customer impact, and resource availability.
    • Develop and maintain a detailed product roadmap that outlines key milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and support teams to ensure successful product development and delivery.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all product-related inquiries, ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve issues and drive product success.
  • Requirement Gathering and Documentation:
    • Define and document product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria with input from stakeholders.
    • Ensure that the development team understands the product requirements and business objectives.
    • Continuously refine and prioritize the product backlog to reflect changing business needs and customer feedback.
  • Product Development and Delivery:
    • Oversee the product development process, ensuring that the team delivers high-quality software on time and within budget.
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to guide the development team.
    • Monitor and measure product performance against key metrics and goals, making data-driven decisions to optimize the product.
  • Customer and Market Focus:
    • Engage with customers to gather insights, validate product concepts, and ensure that the product meets their needs.
    • Analyze customer feedback, market trends, and usage data to identify opportunities for product improvement.
    • Drive the development of features that enhance user experience, increase customer satisfaction, and deliver business value.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    • Mentor and develop junior product managers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
    • Provide leadership in the adoption of best practices in product management and Agile methodologies.
    • Act as a champion for the product within the organization, inspiring confidence and enthusiasm among team members.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy:
    • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new product launches.
    • Create product positioning, messaging, and value propositions that resonate with target customers.
    • Support sales and customer support teams with training, product demos, and the creation of sales collateral.

    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.
    • 7+ years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role within the software industry.
    • Strong understanding of software development processes, including Agile methodologies.
    • Proven experience in managing the full product lifecycle from concept to launch and beyond.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex data, make informed decisions, and prioritize effectively.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships.

    Preferred Skills:
    • Experience in county government technology solutions.
    • Proficiency in using product management and software development tools.
    • Knowledge of UX/UI principles and experience working closely with design teams.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Travel will be required based on client needs.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
    • Fingerprint and Criminal Background Check Required.
