THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND
The Coding Manager is responsible for managing coding related activities across the organization, including OCLI's clinics and surgery centers. The ideal candidate will be certified by AAPC or AHIMA, a CPMA is a plus.
As the coding Manager, you will be responsible for policies, processes, auditing, and training/education. Ophthalmology coding experience is desired, as you will be the voice of coding for the organization. You will audit and ensure we have proper policies and processes in place to ensure we are compliant. You will also be responsible for internal and external audits, various regulatory responsibilities, staying up to date with ongoing changes in coding guidelines, but also with emerging eyecare trends and technology. Understanding and guiding the organization related to CMS and payor coding guidelines, NCDs and LCDs will be critical knowledge in order to perform the responsibilities of the position.

OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU
- Responsible for day-to-day coding operations, productivity, quality, data analytics, dashboards and coding compliance.
- Work closely with physicians, technicians, insurance companies, our internal clinical applications team, and other integral parties to uncover and discuss coding challenges that may negatively impact the organization from an operation, compliance, or financial perspective.
- Audit and provide feedback to the organization related to coding and documentation trends.
- Review, monitor, and manage team performance and coding productivity expectations
- Physician training and education programs will be developed and deployed, along with a regular cadence of provider education and training seminars.
- Provide ongoing, daily, coding support to the provider community.
- Perform Quality Assurance Audits on Coders and provide feedback and mentoring
- Maintain productivity benchmarks, assists in the development of productivity benchmarks
- Consistently review medical documentation and provide feedback around issues/challenges to providers.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Minimum of 5 years in a healthcare coding or billing department.
- Ophthalmology experience preferred.
- Certified Professional through the AAPC or AHIMA with one or more of the following certifications preferred: Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P)
- 1 year of managerial experience
- Ability to communicate with Physicians, Managers and Division Chiefs in a professional manner
- You're detail oriented, organized, and are a master multi-tasker
- You're an advanced user of Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in EMR Systems
