Responsibilities

POSITION OUTLINE:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, and operation of the company's fleet of vehicles and trailers. This role ensures that all company vehicles and trailers are in optimal working condition, compliant with safety standards, and efficiently utilized to support the company's construction projects. The Fleet Manager also plays a key role in driver compliance, dispatch coordination, and fleet optimization.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Fleet Management & Compliance:
  • Oversee fleet operations using B2W Equipment Management Software.
  • Ensure driver safety and enforce company policies.
  • Onboard new drivers, verifying qualifications and confirming capabilities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date vehicle assignment database, tracking which drivers are assigned to each vehicle.
  • Record and track vehicle maintenance and repairs, scheduling services as needed.
  • Apply for and renew all DOT permits, inspections, and state registrations.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, tracking quantities and costs for efficiency.
  • Oversee incident and accident reporting, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Conduct annual driver performance reviews.
  • Frequent interaction with drivers, job supervisors, and shop personnel.

Dispatch & Logistics Coordination:
  • Coordinate material and equipment deliveries with job sites.
  • Maintain and report equipment locations using telematics systems.
  • Develop and distribute daily trucking schedules for internal and hired trucks.
  • Manage outside truck hire as needed to supplement company fleet capacity.
  • Optimize fleet operations to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Confirm all deliveries and quantities, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
  • Monitor vehicle cleanliness and operational readiness.
  • Support shop operations with fleet-related tasks.


Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related operations, supervisory and mechanics experience.
  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented, excellent interpersonal skills and have excellent follow-through capability.
  • Proficiency in computer-based fleet management software (B2W preferred).
  • Knowledge of construction equipment, vehicle maintenance, and transportation regulations.
  • Experience with CDL drivers, DOT compliance, and fleet safety standards.
  • CDL license (Preferred but not required).
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment; perform duties in a timely manner, be highly organized and able to interface; communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position.

Department: Equipment & Logistics
Reports To: Corporate Shop Manager
Location: Bohemia, NY, Office-based with regular site visits to inspect fleet operation, Some fieldwork and travel to job sites and external vendors.

Base Salary: $80,000-$100,000
