Key job responsibilities

You will support our experimentation, causal analysis and Machine Learning workstreams. You will use novel and advanced techniques to answer a number of challenging business questions related to B2B Payments. You will be responsible for researching insights as well as educating the business, product, marketing, and business development teams on the implementation of those insights to enable data-driven decision making. You will partner with our product management, finance, marketing, engineering, and operations teams to:

- Contribute to the development and enhancement of business payment products and features.

- Use observational as well as experimental data to develop analyses and models to drive the business.

- Understand business and product strategies, goals, and objectives and help set the experimental roadmap.

- Analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.

A day in the life

Amazon B2B Payments and Lending is seeking a thoughtful Economist who combines their causal inference and Machine Learning expertise with business intuition to generate critical insights that will set the strategic direction of the business. As an Economist in our Science/Econ team, you will design and build systems/solutions that support financial products, working closely with business partners, product partners, and engineers. You will utilize causal inference and experimentation methodologies, machine learning, data and coding skills, problem solving and analytical skills, and excellent communication to deliver customer value.

The mission of Amazon B2B Payments and Lending is to build the most trusted B2B payment experiences and financial services for organizations of any size, anywhere in the world, enabling them to delight their customers and make positive impact to the communities they serve. We serve diverse customers segments, from large enterprises to Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) and sole proprietorships. Within Amazon B2B Payments and Lending, our Science & Econ team builds models and conducts experiments to maximize business growth and customer experience/value.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- PhD in economics or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience

- Experience with handling of large datasets

- Knowledge of Python and SQL.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
