About the Role
As a pharmacist, you will be responsible for dispensing prescription medications to patients, ensuring the safe use of pharmaceuticals, and providing medication counseling to enhance patient outcomes. You will collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize pharmaceutical care and ensure the appropriate use of medications in diverse healthcare settings.
What You'll Do
Dispense Medications: Accurately and efficiently prepare and dispense prescription medications in accordance with laws, regulations, and medical guidelines.
Patient Consultation: Provide counseling on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions, ensuring that patients understand their treatment regimen.
Medication Therapy Management: Review patient profiles and medication orders to identify potential drug-related problems and collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve them.
Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care, suggest therapeutic alternatives, and monitor patient progress.
Monitor Patient Safety: Ensure safe medication practices, including checking for contraindications, allergies, and inappropriate drug combinations.
Inventory Management: Oversee pharmaceutical inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels, proper storage conditions, and timely reorder of medications.
Patient Education: Provide educational materials and resources to patients regarding medication management, adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on healthcare regulations and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and safety standards related to pharmaceuticals and healthcare practices.
Compounding Medications (if applicable): Prepare custom medications for patients based on unique prescriptions or medical requirements.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities within the pharmacy and healthcare settings.
What You'll Receive

What We're Looking For
Education: BS or PharmD degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
Licensure: Wisconsin pharmacist licensure in good standing or willingness to obtain WI licensure.
PGY-1 clinical pharmacy residency program is preferred
Previous experience in retail pharmacy setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmaceutical practices.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
Attention to detail and the ability to work in fast-paced environments.
Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to use various computer systems and applications; including spreadsheets, database management.
