Position Overview
Reporting to the VP of Finance, theFinance Directoris a key member of the senior management team and is responsible for leading the finance function for our Major Projects West business units. The Finance Director will also work closely with operations leadership and have oversight over the business units finance team. This position will be based inVancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and reports for Aecons executive management team
- Analyze discrepancies between actual and projected figures and recommend methods of improving
- Manage yearly financial audit activities for the group
- Provide financial support and advice (including interpretation of accounting policies) to management on business cases
- Provide accounting-based recommendations to management, ensuring the Company complies with all areas of IFRSand in accordance with established Aecon policies and procedures
- Enhance applicable finance processes and support process improvement initiatives to achieve financial goals and improve efficiency and profitability
- Build a strong network across various teams to handle a wide range of analytical and operational issues
- Support preparation of financial presentations & analyses for the leadership team
- Perform ad-hoc financial analyses (including what-if scenario analysis) as required to support business partners
- Provide business partners with thoughtful insights and influence senior leadership decision making on core business decisions
- Work in conjunction with sector leadership to identify and report on key performance metrics that enhance profitability of the business
- Maintain an ongoing register of financial risks and opportunities for the group
- Ensure optimization of working capital and operating cash flow
- Mentor, coach and develop the finance team
- Maintain a positive work culture
- Provide leadership to the finance team and facilitate the performance management process
- Ensure adequate finance resources are in place and participate in succession planning
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of professional finance experience, within Construction or other project accounting-based environment
- Degree in Accounting or Business Management required
- Canadian CPA designation required
- 7+ years in leadership capacity
- Exceptional knowledge of financial management is required
- Ability to interact with colleagues in a self-managed team structure
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks under pressure
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment within a small team
The expected pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000.
