Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cat Scan Technologist/IV Cert.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and CT procedures. Utilizes computerized tomography CT scanners to produce cross section images of patients internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. Accurately interpret a physicians scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs filming of optimum quality and archives the data
Uses efficient methods and completes examinations assigned in reasonable amount of time
Performs transmission and/or segmentation for transmission to PACS in a complete and proper anatomic display
Generates high quality hard copies of images when necessary
Maintains cleanliness of radiographic area
Prepares equipment and supplies in advance for future exams
Makes alterations in work schedule for STAT and emergency cases
Is able to alter work patterns to satisfy the needs of the patient and medical staff Is able to recognize a medical emergency and notifies nurse PA and/or MD immediately
Demonstrates knowledge of proper radiation safety procedures and incorporates them into the performance of all radiographic procedures
Uses gonadal shielding on all patients whenever possible
Restricts beam to the smallest possible area ensuring the least possible exposure to the patient without compromising quality
Eliminates the possibility of accidental exposures to x ray by all persons
Maintains radiation detection badges and rings appropriately and returns them as required
Assist in the technical orientation of cross trained technologist and instructs them in complex or difficult procedures
Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology
Correctly chooses appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPPA regulations
Demonstrates ability to access patient information such as appointment times type of exam and patient reports Is knowledgeable of the total cycle of RIS patient tracking
Follows departmental policy of documenting begin complete and departure times when appropriate in the RIS
Has working knowledge of film library functions Demonstrates knowledge of the HIS and is able to access patient data for verification of orders
Competent in scheduling exams in RIS from the order entry queue and/or demonstrates the ability to modify exams when necessary
Demonstrates skill in setup and administration of IV contrast media Explains CT or IR procedure and process of administration of contrast to patient and engages radiologist and/or LIP as appropriate per policy
Makes sure contrast media questionnaire has been filled out by patient
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Certificate from accredited School of Radiologic Technology
New York State license
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT
Basic Life Support Certification BLS
with IV Contrast Certification within 3 months of employment
Advance Certification in Computerized Tomography

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $105,733.59 $118,115.59 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
