WHO WE ARE
The coordinates transit services in Montgomery County. Transit accomplishes an essential mobility mission of the County, connecting people, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational opportunities, and many other essential destinations. The Division plans, schedules and manages the County's Ride On bus system consisting of County owned and operated buses. The Ride On system is designed to complement the service provided by the other transit providers in the County and provides almost 30 million trips per year. The Division also regulates the operation of taxicabs services in the County.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The position's overall purpose and direction is for the designing, development, and maintenance of the Division of Transit Services' technology initiatives and programs. This includes management of annual IT budget program development for the division, implementing automation efforts, managing and maintaining all Intelligent Transportation Service tools/programs, and coordinating efforts with IT personnel in other departments and transit agencies. Transit Services manages the Ride On bus system and related support functions, including Operations Planning, Marketing, Advertising and Customer Relations, Special, Senior and Medicaid Transportation, Fare Media and Taxi Regulation.

What You'll Be Doing
- The position will oversee the implementation of customer related IT initiatives, including Ride On's web-based and PDA-accessible real time information system, automated scheduling and bus stop systems, operations dispatch, and data integration of all systems.
- This position will ensure quality of IT service delivery to division by coordinating with division senior and mid-level management to ensure IT systems, services, and project planning are meeting business needs of their section and/or work units.
- This position will coordinate with senior managements at outside agencies (WMATA, MTA) to further align the goals of both institutions in the area of technology applications.
- This position will collaborate with all IT vendors to ensure they meet the established scope of services consistently and maintain timely and high quality of service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: Five years of experience in the information technology field in areas such as programming, systems analysis, data/telecommunications, and systems admin depending on the duties of the position.
- Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. For applicants possessing very hard-to-find skills which are a critical need to the department/agency, training and certification may be accepted in lieu of full degree requirements.
