Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty: Outpatient Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday (4 days/week)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Experience: Minimum 2 years of ambulatory experience, 1 year travel experience preferred for travel positions
License: NYS RN/LPN License
Certifications: ACLS, BLS required
Must-Have: Good IV skills, EPIC experience highly preferred
Job Description:
- Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship-Centered Care and applying the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning post-discharge care, delegating tasks to others as appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention, considering their readiness to learn.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family members, and all members of the interdisciplinary patient care team.
- Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing, demonstrating effective allocation of material resources.
- Role model the tenets of Relationship-Centered Care through facilitation of comprehensive patient-centered actions like Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding.
- Consider patients' values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
- Use evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns, escalating to relevant authorities as needed.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue, body language, and actions.
- Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and addressing barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.
- Contribute to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures.
- Utilize institutional information technology systems to document nursing practice, supporting quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned, coordinating supply utilization and escalating resource deficits as necessary.
- Document accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements and standards of care.
- Contribute to the environment of care by supporting clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Advance clinical competence in nursing practice, encouraging a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, life-long learning, and innovation.
- Acquire knowledge and skills relevant to the role, patient population, clinical specialty, and community health needs.
- Participate in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils, nursing department committees, and unit initiatives.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; an associate degree in nursing is considered with relevant experience or active matriculation in a BSN Program.
Languages: Proficiency in English (speak, read, write).
