About the Role

As a Project Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing feasibility studies, crafting winning RFP proposals, and driving the early-stage design and estimation of microgrid projects. Your work will directly convert feasibility studies into turnkey EPC contracts, support BoxPower's sales and strategic growth, and streamline project development workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of clean energy project development, working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and execution teams to bring resilient microgrids to life. Travel: 50% to HQ and project sites.

Key Responsibilities

Project Development & Feasibility Studies

• Manage the execution of feasibility studies from initial scoping and contracting through conversion into turnkey EPC contracts.

• Lead the development of technical proposals for RFPs, ensuring the seamless coordination of internal resources, project estimating, and subcontractor engagement.

• Perform financial modeling to assess the economic viability of both off-grid and grid-connected microgrid systems.

• Oversee pre-construction cost estimation, working with in-house engineers and external subcontractors to develop accurate and scalable client-facing cost proposals.

Process Optimization & Team Coordination

• Develop and refine tools, workflows, and processes within the Project Development team to streamline feasibility studies and proposal creation.

• Track and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for project development, including completion timelines and conversion rates of feasibility studies and RFPs.

• Establish standardized hand-off processes to ensure a smooth transition of projects from development to execution.

• Provide executive reporting on the status and outcomes of design studies and technical proposals.

Site Assessments & Stakeholder Engagement

• Conduct site visits, organize and analyze field data, and manage subcontractors during feasibility and design study phases.

• Collaborate closely with the sales team, engineering, and other departments to align project development efforts with BoxPower's strategic goals and risk tolerances.

Technology & Product Development Support

• Assist with the product management and UI development of BoxPower's EASI tool, enhancing its capabilities for client-facing database portals, product pricing, and feasibility report generation.

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

• 5+ years of experience in project management, technical sales, or feasibility studies within the renewable energy, microgrid, or energy infrastructure sectors.

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.

• Experience in developing and managing technical proposals, feasibility studies, and cost estimates for energy projects.

• Strong background in financial modeling, cost estimation, and proposal development for large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Ability to evaluate, vet, and manage subcontractors to support feasibility and design studies.

• Familiarity with remote and off-grid construction projects, and the unique challenges they present.

• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and financial modeling tools (e.g., Excel, PVSyst).

Preferred:

• Experience working with utilities, public agencies, or commercial & industrial (C&I) energy customers.

• Understanding of battery storage, solar PV, and microgrid control technologies.

• Exposure to product management and software tools for project development.
