THE ROLE
To effectively deliver our rapidly expanding portfolio of sites, we are searching for an experienced Senior Manager of Construction to join our Capital Projects Team.
Reporting to the Vice President of Capital Projects, the position of Sr. Manager of Construction will have the responsibility to lead the function for the execution of all Cyclic Materials construction projects. You will lead initiatives of standardization, enhance facility efficiency and innovation excellence as well as directly interface with the Construction Management Partner(s) selected for the construction of each facility.
This role requires a dynamic individual who can work in a fast-paced environment demonstrating a company commitment to project and professional excellence, handling multiple projects simultaneously in North American and abroad.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Collaborate with all Capital Projects team members including Project Managers, the Pre-construction Manager, Project Controls personnel and other team members as needed to ensure that our multiple construction projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality.
Provide an unwavering dedication to safety and proven ability to achieve construction deadlines;
Working closely the Capital Projects team to develop and implement a corporate strategy for all construction projects;
Collaborate with internal Capital Projects Team Members and internal cross functional departments (e.g., engineering) as well as lead and manage the activities and deliverables the external construction teams responsible for the preparation of drawings, budgets and schedules to ensure all projects are delivered in accordance with the approved plans;
Leveraging industry best practices, develop, implement, and monitor construction processes, governance, and controls across the portfolio, ensuring a framework that allows for success at all stages, and is in accordance with specifications, project goals and quality;
Ensure that projects are properly managed and delivered through the establishment of solid project management teams, principles and disciplines including developing the Capital Projects tools of project controls for tracking, budgeting, critical path scheduling, risk assessment, gap analysis, project charters, lessons learned and project close-out methodologies, and both stakeholder management and communications plans, and any other necessary project controls;
Work with cross-functional teams to develop functional and design standards and to provide checks and balances relative to project planning, design and pre-construction phases as well as ensuring consistency and quality governance during the construction phase of projects.
Oversee value engineering with internal teams, design consultants, engineers, and external construction managers to gain efficiencies and anticipate potential problems before they arise. Where risks and issues are identified, assist PMs to manage, and implement a mitigation and contingency plans framework;
Manage effective coordination between all partners (including strong collaboration with the Capital Projects Project Manager(s)),and internal teams to ensure the preparation of studies, designs, plans, specifications, permits and cost estimates are delivered when necessary;
Working with the Capital Projects Team to develop and implement a regular project reporting and cadence, which will provide cross functional teams and leadership with visibility on project performance, including capital and expense budgets, critical project milestones, schedule, project controls, risks, and mitigations, etc.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Progressive construction experience with at least 10 - 15+ years' experience supervising large multi-disciplined industrial projects from foundations to commissioning;
Demonstrated management and leadership experience in building, leading, and developing teams;
Proven collaborative teamwork and mentorship characteristics with excellent organizational and time management skills;
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including operations, construction, finance and legal to deliver projects;
Strong analytical and problem solving skills to assist project managers to proactively drive site solutions with contractors and engineers;
Knowledge of both ground up and fit out construction types and the challenges each brings;
Ability to manage on site project management teams in a variety of time zones;
Willingness to travel frequently to multiple sites and locations as needed;
