This leadership position will be responsible for custom application development, business line integration, and industry best practice. The Lead Application Developer is expected to produce custom application solutions by working closely with business users throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle. Along with these custom applications, this position will take the lead in improving the current processes in place and recommend/implement changes to the current application environment. This person will be leading a team of other application developers in the areas of requirements gathering, industry best practice, architecture and software development methodology.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

  • Lead Scrum teams and serve as a "player coach" in the application architecture and software delivery process - ensure successful project delivery and satisfaction
  • Deliver production quality code in a high-risk trading environment in an iterative manner using Scrum methodology
  • Assist establishing goals in line with departmental objectives and provide lead support to team
  • Establish technology standards with the team and other development managers
  • Collaborate with users and other IT teams to continuously improve and evolve the firm's Enterprise Architecture, Application Architecture and Software Development Lifcycle (SDLC) practices
  • Establish relevant metrics and track performance related to team productivity, code quality and customer satisfaction

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5 years of experience in leading software development teams and building web-based, high volume websites
  • 5 years of experience managing development of technology platforms based in the Microsoft technology stack, including IIS, Windows Server, .NET, and SQL server and integrating open source (nuget) packages
  • 5 years of experience in Agile methodologies and supporting techniques, including at least three years managing with an Scrum methodology
  • 3 years of experience working at a buy side or sell side firm with experience in development applications in support of portfolio management and trading strategies
  • 3 years of experience working with market data providers such as Bloomberg

  • Experience with financial services, SAS 70/PCI/SOX compliance is a plus
