Reporting to Site Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent is responsible for seamless functioning of day-to-day field operations to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards. This person has field operations experience in multidisciplinary large scale residential or mixed-use construction project and has superior attention to details and work coordination.

About the Role

Project Scheduling and Execution
  • Develops, maintains, and drives the construction schedule in conjunction with project team.
  • Ensures project milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Ensures projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings and applicable building codes with high quality standards.
  • Ensures project materials are supplied and work is completed in compliance with the Project Quality Program
  • Issue material and services purchase orders and confirms receipt of materials and return of equipment.
  • Provide daily task list to site staff and assist with time sheets.
  • Monitor work performance to ensure project rules, procedures, and safety requirements are being followed.
  • Leads project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project's ongoing progression.
  • Assist with Coordination of inspections with local jurisdictions.

Safety Leadership
  • Promote Marcon's safety management system, and zero accident culture.
  • Ensure pro-active safety process and adherence to OHSA regulations.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are following Marcon's safety standards.
  • Support and uphold COR certification standards.

People Leadership
  • Supervise field employees and trade partners, ensure work is planned and performed efficiently, and timesheets are accurately recorded.
  • Conduct employee orientations and site training.
  • Fosters a teamwork approach for achieving objectives.
  • Mentors project team members to contribute to their development and career growth.

Information and Data Management
  • Maintains a thorough daily report that accurately tracks site progress, events, inspections, and other relevant information.
  • Assist with development of site reports and data management.

Process Leadership
  • Ensure site management standards are adhered to, assist with continuous improvement.
  • Follow the Last Planner System to update weekly project reports and look-ahead plans.
  • Follow company policy and procedures.

Technology
  • Be the user and champion of software application at site.
  • Use commonly used construction software application for viewing / annotating drawings, marking discrepancies, creating project plans, documents, and preparing reports.
  • Use MS Office / MS Project for analysis of data, documentation, preparation of information, and creating project plans.

About You
  • 3+ years construction experience in a direct supervisory role.
  • Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification / education program.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes.
  • Solid understanding of current construction practices.
  • Ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, contracts, costs, and budgets.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling, and familiarity with project management
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, interpret stakeholders needs, and identify solutions.
  • Capable of identifying constructability issues and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule.
  • Skilled at promoting teamwork with project team and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to use Word, MS Project, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with construction management software an asset.

The compensation range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
