POSITION SUMMARY

This senior level management position is directly accountable for the lease crude purchasing operations. This includes direct accountability for increased volumes of first purchased crude oil for the entire Lease Crude Gathering System, coving Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Additionally, this supervises up to five Senior Crude Representatives positions and is also responsible for maintaining ongoing relationships with existing producer customers.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, accounting, geology or related field
  • Master's degree desirable

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 15 + years' experience in crude oil supply acquisitions within locale required.
  • Experience in dealing with State and Federal agencies.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of exploration and production activities required.
  • Experience in Division Order functions.
  • Thorough understanding of transportation operations and crude oil procurement required.
  • Extensive list of desirable Producer contacts required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trade arrangements and agreements required.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate.
  • Ability and commitment to work a flexible schedule to adapt to the availability of Producers.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.


MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Solicit Lease Crude production not purchased by Refinery that would be a profitable addition to the crude gathering business.
  • Supervise and train current staff.
  • Develop strategic initiatives into new areas and present ideas for expansion of lease crude gathering business
  • Secure transportation agreements to move lease crude to market.
  • Develop new sites for unload stations to shorten truck hauls and improve profitability
  • Develop pricing strategy for lease crude that will guarantee competitiveness while insuring the best economics for the refinery.
  • Maintain close association with Producers, customers, transportation providers and trading partners. Strive to build and increase the volume of lease production in system and ensure position with existing Producers to purchase new production brought on stream.
  • Coordinate with CVR's transportation and division order groups to ensure that new oil is secured. Discuss new leases and their locations with the Pipeline/Transportation group and assist Division Order administrator securing information required to establish payments for Lease Production
  • Increase the domestic Lease Crude supply in areas that are new to CVR's gathering territory for domestic barrels.
  • Develop cost-efficient incentives to offer Producers.
  • Derive new or unique purchasing concepts that will result in CVR being on the cutting edge of new ways to secure business.
  • Regularly communicate with SVP of progress, roadblocks and questions.
  • Maintain active memberships with professional organization(s) that relate to the petroleum industry.
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
