About the Principal, Lakeshore Campus:

Under the general direction of the Senior Vice-President, Academic, the Principal, Lakeshore Campus, works with senior leadership to facilitate and implement the strategic planning processes as they relate to the Lakeshore Campus within the framework set by the President and the Board of Governors. As a leader, the Principal encourages the development of mutually supportive partnerships and alliances with all stakeholders, internally and externally, to ensure that the Lakeshore Campus is an inclusive, student-centered community and an effective learning and working environment for all clients and staff.

The Principal, Lakeshore Campus provides strategic leadership and direction to ensure the success of the Lakeshore Campus and Humber in achieving their mission and objectives. It oversees campus operations, manages the Lakeshore Operations team, and ensures the integration and success of the Humber Cultural Hub. Key responsibilities include performance monitoring, quality improvement, infrastructure development, emergency response leadership, and enhancing the student experience. The role fosters strong relationships with academic and service departments, manages the Principal's Office budget, and oversees the hiring, evaluation, and professional development of staff.

Additionally, the position represents the Lakeshore community in key Humber committees, ensuring alignment with institutional planning. It promotes clear internal communication to keep staff and students informed and engaged while fostering an entrepreneurial culture that maximizes new opportunities and revenue generation. The role actively supports student initiatives, events, and experiential learning opportunities, enriching campus life.

Serving as an ambassador for the Lakeshore Campus and Humber Polytechnic, the role builds and maintains partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and government representatives. It negotiates beneficial relationships, enhances Humber's reputation through external representation, and promotes community engagement. Furthermore, it integrates the campus into the wider community by supporting public events and initiatives while collaborating with Humber's Corporate Marketing Department to strengthen visibility and outreach. The ability to work flexible hours on evenings and weekends is required in best serving the needs of numerous stakeholders and the community. About You:

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in MBA, MA, or M.Ed. in Higher Education combined with 9 years of experience.

Skills
  • Proven experience in leading teams, setting strategic direction, and managing operations in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop partnerships, foster community engagement, and advocate for the campus.
  • Experience building relationships with local organizations, educational institutions, and government representatives.
  • Academic administration experience and the demonstrated ability to function effectively in a collective bargaining environment of distributed leadership from a Humber-wide perspective.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of Humber's mission, organizational structures, operations, programs and policies, and Humber's administrative structure as well as broad knowledge of current issues impacting the Humber community.
  • Extensive knowledge of Humber policies, procedures and practices related to budget administration, accounting, purchasing, human resources policies and procedures, organizational development processes and change management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on key issues, research, gather and integrate information and participate with others across organizational lines in developing a wide range of qualified resources and data as the basis for formulating recommendations and developing approaches to resolving issues and problems.
  • Competencies in business acumen, planning, organizing, coordination, problem-solving, negotiating, judgment, listening, understanding, and partnership building with stakeholders inside and outside the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, creative and innovative in solving problems and issues.
  • Excellent oral communications skills which demonstrate the ability to effectively convey and explain information and tactfully deal with diverse people, situations and ideas.
  • Excellent written communications skills which demonstrate the ability to draft clear, concise and specifications, documentation and reports.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with diverse people, situations and ideas as demonstrated by decisions which considers the impact upon others (other organizations etc.} before taking action.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and tact.
  • Highly developed skills/training in operational management, budgeting, human resource management, marketing and promotion skills.
  • Outstanding cross-cultural skills and judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in teams and independently (under pressure and within a specific time frame) and to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization both orally and in written form.
  • Demonstrated experience in needs assessment analysis, creative problem-solving, strategic planning, team development and the ability to secure cooperation of others.
  • Experience in the HR function including hiring and evaluating staff.
  • Evidence of life-long learning and a willingness to explore new experiences and try new things.
