Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the ACS estimating group, assign and manage employees, including monitoring the quality and accuracy and timeliness of their work.
- Understand the scope of work of new proposals. Coordinate who will attend bid meetings and walk downs. Determine the appropriate estimating method and resources required for the class of estimate needed.
- Provide guidance on how to overcome project document deficiencies, including scope clarifications, and identifying project risk and pricing it.
- Assist with the development of new processes and procedures to improve our estimating and proposal efforts. Including the review and incorporation of historical data into unit and man-hour figures for estimates.
- Work with Sales, Project Managers, Engineering, and management, as needed, in the preparation and final evaluation of bids.
- Ensure all documentation is maintained to support the estimate.
- Participate in constructability reviews and cost saving enhancement discussions.
- Provide guidance to ensure that estimates are generated at an appropriate level of detail and organized to meet the clients and ACS needs.
- Review and approve preliminary schedules
- Help support execution plans
- Evaluate risk
- Prioritize the work on multiple projects.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience if no degree.
- 15+ years' experience as an estimator or a field engineer involved with estimating or cost monitoring, including 5+ years of previous management experience.
- Possess the ability to quickly conceptualize the final product based on drawings and other provided documents.
- Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, and cost control techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and maintain the standard of ethics and integrity
- Maintain a professional and ethical representation of the company at all times.

- Skilled in estimating projects of all types and sizes.
- Capable of overseeing activities across multiple large projects simultaneously.
- Experienced in supervising estimating personnel and guiding them in preparing complex proposals. Proficient in managing and motivating a team of professionals.
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and concise presentations to clients and senior management.
- Solid understanding of the operational process at the facilities being estimated.
- Well-versed technical skills, with a clear understanding of various estimate classifications and their intended purposes.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player, eager to collaborate with others and embrace new ideas and methods.
- Committed to personal and professional growth.
- Good computer skills including an operating knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Familiarity with scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera) and databases will be an advantage.
- This position may require occasional travel and extended workdays.
