What We're Seeking: DATCP currently has an opening for a Quality Assurance Analyst (Program and Policy Analyst - ADV) position with the Quality Assurance Section within the Bureau of Laboratory Services.

Where We're Located: The position is located at the Bureau of Laboratory Services Building situated on Madison's southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute. An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee's telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Approved telecommuting locations must be within Wisconsin.

Position Summary

This position performs a variety of tasks necessary to maintain the laboratory's quality system including program planning, analysis, and the development of procedures based on national accreditation policies. Responsibilities include providing analysis of quality related policies and developing procedures from the analysis, reviewing changes to existing procedures and conducting internal audits to assess the adherence to those policies and procedures and to maintain defensibility of analytical results.

Responsibilities also include maintaining the control limits processes across six separate units at BLS; overseeing the corrective action process and the laboratory's proficiency testing program. The position will help develop the annual plan for internal audits across all sections and units of the lab and prepares comprehensive internal audit reports for management review. This position also assists BLS management prepare for audits by external bodies such as the FDA, ISO, EPA, USDA, and others by reviewing and applying their requirements and standards. This position also serves as the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) coordinator, assisting the QAS Manager with the implementation, coordination, and maintenance of the system. This position is responsible for analyzing existing and future workflows, analyzing system issues, and providing technical support to laboratory staff. This position will support Bureau plans and initiatives; and may be required to give expert testimony in court.

Quality Assurance Analyst Position Description

Salary Information

The classification of this position is Program and Policy Analyst-Adv, which is in schedule-range 07-03 with a starting pay of $36.00 per hour up to $42.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan. Pay for current State employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required.

DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license or the ability to provide one's own transportation for work purposes is required.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
  • Professional experience working in a testing laboratory setting.
  • Professional experience performing quality assurance tasks with at least three for the following: auditing (internal or external), document control and retention, non-conformance and corrective action investigations, or proficiency testing.
  • Professional experience working with any of the following software: laboratory information management system (LIMS), quality management software, or other laboratory management software or databases.
  • Professional experience maintaining and organizing calibrations of laboratory equipment.
In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
  • Professional experience applying and interpreting ISO 17025 accreditation standards or regulatory requirements, such as FDA, USDA, or EPA, to testing laboratory procedures and policies.
  • Professional experience preparing control charts and control limits, including compiling the data and reviewing the control limits for correctness and/or trend analysis.
  • Professional experience maintaining and administering a laboratory information management system (LIMS), quality management software, or other laboratory management software or databases including, but not limited to, analyzing workflows for incorporation into the system, building records, testing builds, and implementation of the solution.
  • Professional experience with writing, reviewing, and maintaining quality or laboratory related standard operating procedures (SOPs) and communicating change to relevant stakeholders when necessary.
