Job Summary

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field
Minimum Experience:
Ten (10) years of job specific experience in the field of SBA lending, with demonstrated professional growth and achievement in an organization of comparable size, business diversity, scope and complexity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, directing, controlling, and evaluating the process of analyzing, underwriting, servicing, and liquidating and/or marketing of the Bank's SBA and government guaranteed lending portfolio to ensure conformance with the established Bank objectives, policies, and procedures and compliance with all lending regulations, including SBA Standard Operating Procedures and Synovus Loan Policy. Directly involved with all aspects of internal and external audits.
- Drives performance of sales team through established organizational sales management process, which includes: conducting business forwarding sales meetings; keeping team members informed and abreast of results and operational components; providing production focus and direction; conducting joint calls; and coaching for top line performance; establishing partnerships with other lines of business and product areas to encourage cross selling across multiple channels.
- Develops and implements SBA and other government guaranteed loan programs to assure acquisition and underwriting of profitable and secure lending opportunities; guides and directs activities of team members involved in all aspects of government guaranteed loan activity; remains abreast of market trends and opportunities; provides the framework for sound and orderly expansion in both the lending function and team member development.
- Assists in developing specific SBA and government guaranteed lending goals and supporting operating plans and programs; originates and directs the implementation of department policies and procedures.
- Works closely with supervisor, credit and finance in analyzing the Bank's SBA and government guaranteed loan portfolio to determine profitability and to assure favorable impact of current lending practices on Bank profit objectives; accurately translates market trends and opportunities into meaningful action; maintains awareness of Bank lending policies and practices and optimum market penetration through appropriately competitive rates, terms, and services.
- Develops and maintains an effective program of secondary marketing for SBA loans including, but not limited to, the formation of a network of investors and systems to service the SBA credits sold.
- Maintains favorable business relationships across all Bank divisions and cross functional areas; develops Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that department will be held accountable for achieving.
- Supervises the processing, closing, servicing all SBA loans, and if applicable, packaging for sale on the secondary market; resolves and/or supervises the resolution of loan problems and customer complaints.
- Remains current on all new and existing government regulations to ensure compliance within the SBA and government guaranty lending function.
- Prepares loan documentation or oversee the outsourcing of such duties to adhere and comply with all requirement and regulations.
- Prepares and monitors departmental budget and analyzes performance against goals and projections.; recruits, selects and trains or supervises the training of staff; conducts performance evaluation interview and counsels subordinates on job progress; approves hiring, termination, transfer, reclassification, vacations, etc., of subordinate team members; recommends salary adjustments, promotions and increases or reduction in staff size. Performs these responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws and works with the Human Resources Department to resolve more complex team member-related issues.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

- Direct experience selling and managing government guaranty lending programs (SBA, FmHA, USDA, CDCs)
- Knowledge and experience in origination, servicing and liquidation of loans
- Proficient in sales, processing, underwriting, packaging, closing, servicing and liquidation of loans
- Advanced knowledge of current SBA standard operating procedures (SOP) and other pronouncements related to government guaranteed business lending
- Advanced knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations
- Experience developing loan strategy and lending policies
- Proven supervisory skills
