Description:

As a member of the technical staff, the Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for conceptualizing, designing, simulating, programming, testing, and demonstrating pilot and production robotic systems, both in the lab and in our clients' facilities. In doing so, they will create new and improved automation products and solutions for material handling; and produce design and assembly instructions and bills of material. They will also work with electrical components such as wiring and design schematics. The Systems Engineer will utilize analytical techniques to understand software and hardware integration requirements, feasibility and capabilities of design, and performance requirements and interfaces.

Essential Functions

1. Conceptualize, design, simulate, program, test, and demonstrate pilot/production robotic systems

2. Perform reach studies, cycle time estimation, process design/animation, device configuration

3. Create, innovate, and invent new/better automation products/solutions for material handling

4. Produce design documents, assembly/work instructions, and bill of materials

5. Confidently represent Plus One Robotics to its customers and vendors as an automation SME

6. Periodically travel to customer sites to collect data, install, or support deployed systems

7. Diagnose and isolate root causes both hardware and software (ROS-based systems)

8. Assist in problem resolution specific to the program/project

9. Participate in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products

10. Solve problems that arise proactively and creatively; persist in the face of challenges

11. Perform hands-on wiring/electrical installation

12. Manage inventory of critical project specific components

13. Passion for robotics and mechatronic systems and pride of ownership

14. Able to work in fast-paced, team driven environment

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's/Master's in Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field, and 2+ years' work experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Experience with any of the following:
2+ years of logistics/automation system integration experience or experience in a related field
Programming and Configuration:

o Native Robot Software (INFORM, MotoPlus, TP, KAREL, RAPID, UR, VAL3, etc.)

o Devices (Cameras, PLC's, barcode scanners, motion control)

o C++, Python, Git, Github/Gitlab, QtCreator (or other IDE)

o Device networking: device network configuration, network troubleshooting
Electrical/Electronics: Wiring components, Review electrical schematics
Communication devices: Fieldbus, Discrete IO, etc.
Tools: Windows, Linux (Ubuntu), Microsoft Office, ROS-I/ROS
Other Skills: Deep learning, Reinforcement learning, Agile software development, Test driven development

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must have reliable transportation;
Must have a valid drivers' license;
Must have a valid passport or obtain one within first 3 months of hire and be able to travel unrestricted throughout the US and EU.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position will also have occasional work in the warehouse, either in our facility or our customer's. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full time, 40 hours/week between M-F, 9:00am-6:00pm.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is dependent on experience. The range for this role is $120,000 - $147,000 per year and is a bonus eligible position.

Travel
Intermittent travel is anticipated for this position, sometimes for up to two weeks at a time. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.
