ABOUT THE ROLE
The Fundraiser Manager, Major Gifts plays a key role in cultivating and stewarding major and legacy gift donors, while also identifying new prospects. Working closely with our consultant, Veritus, they will develop relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations to drive philanthropic support for Cuso International. Working closely the Director, Engagement and the MarCom team, they will also foster a culture of giving across the organization. This position primarily manages a portfolio of 150+ donors, foundations, corporations and prospects, each capable of contributing $5,000 or more.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Gifts & Legacy Giving
- Develop and manage a portfolio of major donors, implementing tailored engagement strategies to secure gifts of $5,000+.
- Execute a moves management strategy, including research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Identify and engage new major and legacy giving prospects.
- In collaboration with the Program Development team, manage the creation of compelling funding proposals for foundations and or corporations.
- Lead the implementation of a planned giving program, ensuring alignment with overall fundraising goals.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Maintain strong donor relationships through personalized engagement, events, donor visits and recognition strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop inspiring storytelling and impact communications.
- Ensure donor data integrity and tracking through Raiser's Edge or similar CRM systems.
- Contribute to the design and rollout of the Alumni strategy with a focus on donor conversion.
Strategy & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Fundraising team to align major gift strategies with overall donation strategy
- Leverage networks and partnerships to expand Cuso International's donor base.
- Stay current on fundraising trends and best practices, adapting strategies to maximize success.
- Liaise with other departments and country offices to share in the development and design of new fundraising initiatives.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of professional fundraising experience, with a focus on major gifts and donor relations.
- Proven track record of securing major gifts from individuals, corporations, or foundations.
- Experience with moves management, donor cultivation, and solicitation strategies.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally as required.
Desirable
- Knowledge of planned giving and legacy fundraising.
- Familiarity with international development and the non-profit sector.
- Experience using Raiser's Edge or similar donor database systems.
- French language skills.
