The Regional Sales Manager - Data Centers is responsible for growth within the Data Center (Colo & Hyperscale) market. In this role, you'll be responsible for defining and executing a market-based sales strategy to drive revenue and profit growth across the entire Powell portfolio. Developing new business relationships, partnerships, channels, and opportunities which align with our strategic focus. Enrolling peer sales teams and collaborating across business units in achieving KPIs while delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute sales plan(s) to drive sustainable growth within the Data Center vertical.
  • Build & maintain strong long-term key customer relationships to improve partnerships and drive business.
  • Conduct cold calls and either directly or in conjunction with local/regional sales personnel, follow up on proposals to close contracts effectively and efficiently.
  • Campaign to position Powell as an approved or preferred supplier across the entire value chain (End Users, Engineering firms, Contractors, Distributors, etc).
  • Form successful working relationships with Regional Sales Managers, Strategic Account Managers, Channel Sales Executives, and Product Managers to maximize opportunity potential and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Lead & support in the development of framework purchasing agreements.
  • Support the Product Management group with market intelligence, product road mapping, and other associated activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of company marketing plans and strategy as needed, including the identification of and participation in conferences and product exhibitions.
  • Generate and maintain a 6Q sales forecast for the assigned market vertical.
  • Prepare action plans to meet or exceed sales targets while supporting management's strategic focus.
  • Support the development of detailed proposals (products and services) and perform sales contract reviews as necessary.
  • Communicate with field and corporate associates regarding potential contract issues.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of sales status reports, including activities, closings, follow-up and adherence to department and company goals.
  • Negotiate and respond to commercial and technical clarifications.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required (business or technical discipline preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • Electrical products and services experience or knowledge of electrical distribution systems and related electrical automation; Data Center applications preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sales strategy development, client agreements, and account planning.

    Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
    • Past working experience in sales/tendering of electrical products and services is preferred.
    • Expert in responding to solicitations, RFI's, and RFQ's.
    • Good knowledge of commercial issues relating to contracts and agreements.
    • Ability to develop or demonstrate familiarity with NEC, UL, ANSI and IEC power distribution equipment application standards.
    • Ability to work independently and lead initiatives.
    • Ability to learn company products and services and apply various designs and solutions to resolve customer needs.
    • Ability to manage multiple solicitation opportunities with varying deadlines and requirements.
    • Experience with Full Cost Modeling and project budgeting.
    • Ability to develop and deliver product presentations.
    • Drive to grow profitable sales volumes with clients.
    • Experience of working in a Sales and Marketing environment.
    • Technical aptitude for ANSI/NEMA & IEC products and specifications.

    Working & Environmental Conditions
    • Work will require travel to current and potential clients with overnight travel (>50%).
    • Must participate in Powell's Driver Safety Program
