About the Team:

The Employee Engagement and Events, Manager will lead the end-to-end planning and execution of global employee engagement events, ensuring seamless integration across multiple regions, including the U.S., Europe, and Asia Pacific. This role involves creative ideation, event execution, budget management, and post-event analytics aligned with KPIs, while providing a global focus on employees both remote and across multiple office locations.

Additionally, you will design templates, pathways, and processes that empower teams across various regions to independently host their own events, ensuring a scalable and consistent employee engagement experience globally. This role will ensure all Global programming has clear and strategic alignment to our business objectives within industry, and support gaining or sharing insights from patients, clinical sites, or our employees. Types of programming may include Heritage and Awareness Month Celebrations.

Responsibilities:
  • Global Event Planning & Execution: Own the end-to-end event planning process across multiple global regions, including ideation, logistics, communications, and post-event follow-up. Ensure all events align with the company's strategic goals and support a global, inclusive employee culture. Lead the execution of programming culturally imperative to Medidata and its employees, ensuring each event is relevant and accessible to all teams across regions.
  • Pathways & Templates for Team-Led Events: Develop and implement event planning templates, toolkits, pathways, and processes to empower local teams to independently host their own events. Provide guidance, resources, and best practices to ensure each location can execute events that align with the company's engagement objectives while promoting autonomy and ownership.
  • Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Operate across diverse global, cross-cultural teams to create and execute region-specific activities. Establish strong working relationships with key partners and senior executives in the U.S., Europe, and Asia Pacific to ensure events are tailored to local needs while maintaining global consistency.
  • Vendor and Budget Management: Research and select venues, vendors, and event partners, ensuring competitive pricing and high-quality services. Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and oversee the budget for each event, ensuring efficient use of resources. Collaborate with Finance to process invoices, manage reimbursements, and ensure department approvals are handled promptly.
  • Event Logistics and Execution: Coordinate logistical details, including safety walkthroughs, sound checks, and run-of-show for in-person and virtual events across all global locations. Ensure that events run smoothly, maintaining high standards of execution and engagement. Ensure all events are documented aligned to KPIs. This may include objective and subjective metrics like attendance numbers, recap stories, photos, and key takeaways for internal and external communications.
  • Global Event Calendar Management: Develop and maintain a Global Events Calendar, ensuring timely and accurate tracking of all upcoming events, holidays, and key Medidata moments. Align all global events with company-wide initiatives and strategic goals.
  • Engagement Tracking & Impact Measurement: Track and measure event engagement and impact through surveys, focus groups, and trend analysis. Provide insights on the success of events and areas for improvement, using data to refine future engagement strategies.
  • Coaching and Advising BRGs: Serve as a strategic advisor to Business Resource Groups (BRGs), providing guidance and support in planning their own events and initiatives. Ensure BRGs align their events to broader company objectives with programming that is inclusive and impactful.
  • Trend Analysis & Best Practices:Research and implement the latest trends and best practices in event planning, employee engagement, and global programming. Ensure that Medidata's events remain innovative, relevant, and engaging for employees and stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Event Management, Marketing, or Communications).
  • 6+ years of experience in planning, producing, and executing large-scale, global events.
  • Proven track record of managing cross-cultural, global events and programs, with experience in diverse regions including the U.S., Europe, and Asia Pacific.
  • Expertise in managing event budgets and vendor relationships, with a focus on cost optimization.
  • Experience in coaching and supporting Business Resource Groups (BRGs) and other internal teams.
  • Creative and innovative approach to event planning and execution.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency, capable of managing multiple high-impact events simultaneously.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish strong collaborations with global stakeholders, senior executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, with experience in managing large-scale events on time and within budget.
  • Experience creating scalable event solutions and enabling teams to lead their own initiatives autonomously.
  • Ability to adapt and pivot in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in tracking engagement metrics and analyzing event success.

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on many factors including function, level, candidate experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $96,000 - $128,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
