Fisher is currently seeking a Tooling Manager for our Brownsville, TX plant. This position is responsible for overseeing all tool room activities supporting production and engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage tool room machining operation to include tool & die build & repair, precision grinding, preventative tool maintenance, etc.
Provides leadership and assigns jobs to department personnel.
Ability to identify, select, train and coach team members
Responsible for overall coordination and communication within department and production
Maintains documentation and records various data for the department as required
Interact with plant manager, engineering, materials, and quality teams regarding key/open issues
Oversee the activities of the tool room team to effectively support plant operations
Manage and monitor all department IATF16949 requirements to satisfy corporate requirements
Provides model behavior to demonstrate corporate values

Education

Journeyman status as a Tool & Die Maker preferred or 10 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker

Experience

10+ years of tool & die experience

Management &/or Supervisory experience

Skills

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving

Strong mechanical ability and problem solving skills sufficient to perform and lead fabrication and build activities

Blueprint reading

Knowledge of cutting, forming, milling, grinding, assembly, tool steel composition, tool sharpening, hardness testing, and metal fabrication.

Operate basic metrology instruments, grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, optical comparator, and EDM machine.

Ability to calculate speeds and feeds and perform machine offsets

Communication skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and suppliers

Computer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks are required

Ability to provide leadership and work effectively with people

Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of an office setting and manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of a manufacturing environment. Job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant, including second story areas. The ability to lift 40 pounds is required, as well as the ability to grip and hold hand tools.
