The opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Practice Management, the Vice-President, Practice Management, will partner with Investment Advisor teams to deliver industry-leading coaching and consulting services, share best practices, and lead engagements. This role involves optimizing internal processes, ensuring financial performance and driving efficiency within Investment Advisor teams and Wellington-Altus. The Vice-President, Practice Management will align practice goals with the broader corporate strategy, ensuring resources are used efficiently to meet both client expectations and financial objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering tailored guidance to advisory teams on high priority topics such as new client growth strategies, generating referrals, successful COIs, investment management efficiencies, enhancing the client experience, business planning, team systems & processes, creating capacity, sales skills, articulating your value & overall value proposition, fees and pricing, client & prospecting events, leadership, and positioning a business for overall future success.
  • Evaluating market trends and competitors to drive innovation and stay ahead of industry developments.
  • Developing and execute the strategic vision for the organization's financial practices and Advisor Teams in collaboration with the SVP, Practice Management.
  • Supporting advisors in establishing key priorities with quantified business metric targets, help design action plans and provide regular support to ensure successful performance against these priorities.
  • Working collaboratively within a team of peers and colleagues as a subject matter expert on initiatives that support advisor growth and/or help advisors run more efficient practices.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with peers and advisors, including members of the Executive Leadership, Investment Management, HR, Compliance, Finance, Corporate Development, and Legal teams for the sake of mutual success across the entire firm.
  • Supporting Investment Advisor teams to ensure that client needs are met efficiently and effectively while maintaining high service standards and compliance.
  • Ensuring a consistently top-end advisor engagement experience.
  • Defining and measure the impact of engagements to ensure they are supporting the organic growth of the advisory practice and enhancing the advisor experience.
  • Applying strong data literacy through the understanding, tracking, and developing of strategies based on a range of advisory team-level and firm-level business metrics.
  • Establishing and measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor success and make data-driven decisions.
  • Monitoring financial reports, working to maximize financial profitability while ensuring cost control and effective resource allocation.
  • Building and maintaining repeatable systems for tracking quantified engagement impact results.
  • Capturing feedback from advisors to foster a collaborative culture and meet the demands of an evolving industry.
  • Conducting training, coaching, facilitation and apply change management expertise to drive business results in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance, Investment Advisor and Client satisfactions and profitability.


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration or a related field required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years' experience in the wealth management industry required.
  • 5+ years' experience in a client facing, advisor management or investment sales role a strong asset.
  • Experience delivering growth in a high performing client service-oriented capacity.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • CIM a strong asset.
  • CFP a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Experience with CRM systems, either directly or indirectly, and the application of these systems within Investment Advisor Teams.
  • Experience creating processes and templates to help scale resources and expertise across the business.
