At Edwards, we put patients first. As part of this, we invest a significant proportion of our revenue towards research and development to drive and develop groundbreaking innovations for structural heart and heart failure disease. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Edwards Lifesciences Anatomical and Physiological Modeling Center of Excellence (AP Modeling CoE) team as a Senior Imaging Engineer. Providing inputs from assessment of cardiac CT, MRI and echocardiography imaging modalities. The analysis needed to generate this information requires experience with various imaging software and knowledge cardiac anatomy and physiology. Providing functional and anatomical data for different conditions. This information will be incorporated into different aspects of the AP Modeling CoE, such as physical or computational modeling. Then supporting multiple projects across different Edwards business units.

You will make an impact by:
  • Applying deep knowledge and experience in human anatomy and physiology to advance the development of cardiac imaging analysis for structural heart and heart failure therapies
  • Supporting R&D efforts for assessment of novel and innovative solutions by generating new imaging analysis workflows
  • Understanding and estimating the effect of disease state on the efficacy of devices by assessment of imaging studies
  • Supporting innovation and project teams for feasibility, efficacy, and safety from ideation to commercialization
  • Advancing the development of imaging workflows and methodologies for reducing device prototyping time, number of iterations and expense
  • Providing direction and coaching to other engineering staff from an imaging perspective
  • Authoring internal and external technical publications, including regulatory submission support
  • Interfacing with cross-functional teams for collaborations on the development of new imaging workflows
  • Working with senior leadership to determine future direction and continued advancement of the imaging workflows and AP Modeling CoE efforts
  • Some domestic and international travel, up to 5%, is required

What you'll need (Required):
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (biomedical or lifesciences) with a minimum of four years of experience, including image analysis for the medical implant device space OR
  • Master's degree in engineering (biomedical or lifesciences) with a minimum of three years of experience, including image analysis for the medical implant device space OR
  • PhD degree in engineering (biomedical or lifesciences) with some experience in image analysis for the medical implant device space
  • Experience using image analysis software to review cardiac CT, MRI and echocardiography data, including structural heart case planning. Such as CircleCVi, Medis, Terarecon, TomTec, Echopac, Osirix, Vitrea

What else we look for (Preferred):
  • Certification by relevant medical imaging organization. For example: the American Society of Radiology Accreditation (ARC), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • 2+ years of experience of image analysis in the medical device industry preferred

  • Experience using dicom data transfer systems: BioClinica, Medidata, Ambra
  • Familiarity with transferring dicom data from different imaging equipment: echocardiography machines, C-Arms, CT scanners.
  • Closely collaborate with computational and experimental modeling teams to develop imaging workflows to support their needs.
  • Familiarity with relevant imaging guidelines: ASE, SCCT, SCMR etc.,
  • Must work closely with software vendor development teams to incorporate improved workflows directly into future release of their software products
  • Familiarity with human heart anatomy, physiology, and types, symptoms, causes and treatments of structural heart and heart failure disease is highly desirable
  • Experience in the modeling and simulation of human cardiovascular hemodynamics is highly desirable
  • Familiarity and experience with finite element analysis and/or computational fluid dynamics is preferred
