Covenant Health is looking for a Clinical Educator to join our team in Vegreville, Alberta! St. Joseph's General Hospital is at the heart of the community of Vegreville. Providing residents of Vegreville and surrounding areas with a 24-hour emergency department. This site has onsite diagnostic imaging, pharmacy services, occupational and physical therapy, as well as provides outpatient services in cardiac rehabilitation, dietary services, and respiratory therapy. St. Joseph's General Hospital offers the highest standard of acute care and out-patient services in rural Alberta. Located approximately 1 hour east of Edmonton, Vegreville offers several annual events, a variety of attractions and a friendly business community. Successful candidates may qualify for incentives and relocation assistance of up to $10,000. The IEN Clinical Educator is accountable for providing specialized clinical expertise and leadership for internationally trained nurses enabling optimal functioning within a variant of service areas across the organization. The position coordinates with the IEN Practice Lead, operational leaders, and IENs to act as a resource for clinical staff and other clinical educator colleagues. The IEN Clinical Educator will provide consultation and direction in aspects of IEN community integration, registration processes, orientation, clinical mentorship, and patient/resident care within the scope of their practice. With a focus on clinical education & mentorship for entry to practice clinicians (such as IEN's) this position focuses on skill development for the enhancement & optimization of models of care and scope of practice across the spectrum of care. Please note: Must be able to travel between various sites/locations; and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

Description: The Instructor's primary role is to ensure the delivery of quality patient care and excellence in nursing. Exercising adult principles of learning, the Instructor will design, enhance and provide staff orientation, education, clinical consultation, development, and/or evaluation. The Instructor's nursing practice will reflect a current, broad knowledge base, and excellent nursing skills that enable her/him to function as a role model and support staff in accordance with Covenant Health's Mission, Vision, and Values. The Instructor will function independently in formal and informal learning environments. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or other applicable degree required. Combination of education and experience will be considered. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications:
Must have between three to five years of current, relevant, related acute care clinical experience. Must have the physical ability to support direct patient care, with a demonstrated ability to apply clinical expertise in a hands-on setting. Demonstrated leadership experience in an organization of a significant size, complexity, and diversity. Demonstrated ability to support, and advocates for diversity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity. Must be proficient working in a computerized environment including MS Office Suite. Must be flexible, tactful with a positive reinforcement style and excellent conflict resolution skills. Must have very good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be self-motivated, self-directed and able to implement resolutions; must have excellent problem-solving skills. Frequent travel is required to provide provincial relief (Additional Rural/Edmonton Zone sites) in order to support IEN orientation and maintain linkages with practice and operational leaders, staff, and other stakeholders across the province. May be required to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 3-5 years' recent experience as a CNE and acute experience in a rural setting. Recent experience with educational transition work for IENs, including but not limited to participation in IEN orientation (centralized) or at a site level. Committee or working group participation in relation to advancing rural education and/or internationally educated healthcare professionals.
