Position Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the ski resort, ensuring financial stability, managing risks, and driving strategic growth. This role includes budgeting, financial planning, cash flow management, financial reporting, compliance, management of IT resources and investor relations. The CFO works closely with the executive team to optimize revenue, control costs, and enhance profitability while ensuring excellent guest and employee experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Planning:
  • Develop and execute financial strategies to support business objectives and long-term growth.
  • Provide financial forecasting, risk assessment, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and board.
  • Ensure strong financial stewardship and adherence to best practices in financial management.

Financial Operations & Reporting:
  • Oversee all financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management, investors, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Manage cash flow and accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax reporting.

Budgeting & Cost Control:
  • Develop annual budgets and long-term financial plans, ensuring alignment with operational and real estate development goals.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Optimize cost efficiency in ski operations, including lift operations, lift maintenance, snowmaking, grooming, food & beverage, and guest services.

Revenue & Investment Management:
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost efficiencies across resort operations.
  • Oversee pricing strategies for lift tickets, season passes, retail, and hospitality services.
  • Manage investment strategies, capital expenditures, and debt financing.
  • Ensure proper financial controls for capital projects, expansion plans, infrastructure investments and real estate development projects.

Risk Management & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.
  • Oversee insurance policies, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Implement internal financial controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
  • Oversee Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and operations.

Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional development and high performance.
  • Work collaboratively with department heads to support operational and financial decision-making.
  • Act as a key liaison between the resort and external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and investors.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 8-10+ years of financial leadership experience, preferably in hospitality, resort management, or outdoor recreation industries.
  • Strong understanding of revenue management, capital investment, and cost control in a seasonal business.
  • Experience with financial modeling, strategic planning, and risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:
  • Based at a ski resort, requiring flexibility during peak winter and summer seasons.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic operational structure.
  • Some travel may be required for investor meetings, financial reviews, or industry conferences.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.


Compensation will be based on experience.
