Job Summary
The Assistant Director, Community Engagement is responsible for successfully assisting in planning fundraising events for the CHOC Children's Foundation and the Guilds of CHOC that include, but are not limited to, the CHOC Walk in the Park, CHOC Cherishes Children Gala, CHOC Charity Classic, CHOC Night at the Honda Center, CHOC Follies, CHOC Walk related events and Guild events and fundraising campaigns. Ensures that all fundraising events and Guild campaigns are within budget, meet financial objectives, and appropriately represent CHOC Children's to the donor community. Responsible for sponsorship development and tracking, execution of event logistics, executing and assisting with the development of communications campaigns, vendor management, and volunteer recruitment and administration. Other duties will include scheduling tours, updating event sponsorship and fundraising materials, web support and graphic design.
Collaborates with the CHOC Children's Foundation Community Engagement team, other Foundation and hospital staff, hospital leadership and volunteers to identify, cultivate and solicit individual and corporate prospects for sponsorship and in-kind donations. Adheres to fundraising best practices and benchmarks.

Pay Range
Minimum $53,955 Midpoint $80,912 Maximum $107,890

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

* Required: Minimum two (2) years of proven knowledge of planning, production and management of small, medium, high profile, and less-formal events for diverse and distinguished guests, with the ability to formulate creative ideas, and to analyze, evaluate, and negotiate details reflective of a successful event.

* Preferred: Four (4) years of philanthropy experience.

Education

* Required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or closely related field, or equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education.

Training

* Required: None required.

Specialized Skills

* Required: Must be team oriented and pay attention to detail and follow-up. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with Donors, Foundation team members, Board Members, CHOC physicians, grateful families, hospital staff, vendors and volunteers. Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop, Raiser's Edge, and Rallybound. Working knowledge of social/digital media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, SnapChat and blogs. Strong multi-tasking skills required and the ability to work in a fast paced fundraising environment. Ability to lift 25 pounds (position requires moving, carrying and transporting event materials). Ability to travel on behalf of CHOC Children's Foundation business. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support Foundation events.

Licensure

* Required: Valid California Driver's License.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:
Medium - High energy level Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) .
