The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and operation of a company's vehicle fleet. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of all fleet assets while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The Fleet Manager develops strategies to optimize fleet performance, manage budgets, and improve operational efficiency.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing total fleet operations across multiple states, ensuring that all vehicles and equipment remain operational, cost-effective, and compliant with safety and regulatory standards
- This leadership role requires strategic oversight of maintenance operations, budgeting, and efficiency improvements, while also assisting implementing company-wide initiatives across multiple locations
- The Fleet Manager will drive operational excellence through strong leadership, cost management, and continuous improvement strategies
- Oversee fleet maintenance and operations across multiple locations, ensuring uptime, efficiency, and compliance
- Develop and implement company-wide initiatives across all sites, standardizing best practices and improving fleet performance
- Drive continuous improvement strategies (e.g., 5S methodology, lean maintenance practices) to enhance efficiency and cost savings
- Ensure all fleet assets comply with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations, maintaining an audit-ready status at all times
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining fleet reliability and safety standards
- Negotiate and oversee third-party maintenance provider contracts, ensuring service level agreements are met at the best value
- Track and analyze fleet performance metrics, optimizing vehicle lifecycle management and cost efficiency
- Ensure all fleet locations adhere to federal, state, and company regulations, reducing risk and liability
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to align fleet operations with overall business objectives
- Performs ad hoc analysis in support of finance and operations as needed.
Job Requirement
- 5+ years of fleet experience, with at least 2 years of multiple site operations
- Proven experience managing/operating budgets, including cost control and financial forecasting
- Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, and vehicle lifecycle management, accident management, and license and title.
- Experience implementing company-wide initiatives across multiple locations
- Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other fleet regulatory compliance requirements
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work with high-performing teams across multiple sites
- Experience negotiating vendor contracts and managing third-party service providers
- Proficiency in fleet management software and data-driven decision-making
- This is a high-impact leadership role that requires a strategic mindset, operational expertise, and financial acumen
