As a Professional Engineer for Vertical Structures, you will work on challenging assignments, including designing, evaluating, and analyzing water retaining structures, vaults, wastewater infrastructure, CMU & Tilt-up Buildings, small bridges, etc.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Lead the design and analysis of vertical structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations
  • Prepare designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications
  • Work in cooperation with staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies, and miscellaneous clients
  • Perform or check various structural designs using Enercalc, STAAD, RAM, CAD, and/or other software and design tools
  • Design or check retaining wall and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
  • Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in community infrastructure and structural engineering
  • Structures lead for smaller projects, coordinating staff and design efforts


Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • 4 to 10 years of experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE within one year
  • Structural Engineering (SE) licensure or desire to obtain license
  • Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices, some travel required--
  • Experience working in infrastructure design teams
  • Design Build and Alternative Delivery experience a plus
  • Established relationships with local clients (municipalities) a plus
  • Solid understanding of heavy civil projects a plus
