POSITION OVERVIEW

The Information Technology Director is a member of IslandWood's Finance and General Services team. The Information Technology Director is a valued strategic partner who ensures IslandWood Technology systems (applications, software, equipment, and infrastructure) and related processes enhance the user experience while effectively and efficiently supporting the organizational mission and priorities.

The Information Technology Director is responsible for organizational IT strategy and roadmap, digital transformation (including Salesforce administration), and knowledge management and for coordinating, planning, and leading IT-related activities in partnership with our IT partners, department Directors and leadership teams

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Classification: Full-time/Exempt

Pay Range: $135,000 to $165,000

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday

Work Location: On-site/Bainbridge Island Campus

Paid Time off annual benefit:

IslandWood offers 3 weeks paid vacation, floating holidays, 10 annual paid holidays and 80 hours of paid annual sick leave. (Time-off prorated during first year based on start date).

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Digital Transformation

  • Develops technology goals in alignment with overall organizational strategy. Identifies opportunities for innovation to drive growth, improve efficiency
  • Develops long term technology and digitization roadmap, prioritizes technology initiatives. Plans for the future.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies to identify and evaluate technologies, automation and innovation, that can benefit the organization. Leads related transformation efforts to improve processes and enhance user and customer experience.
  • Drives initiatives to automate repetitive tasks and optimize workflow through technology.
  • Collaborates across teams to understand technology needs, deliver solutions and act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Reports to and advises leadership team related to technology matters

Application Administration

  • Responsible for leading and directing efforts internally and with partners to streamline and enhance our existing application instances, clarifying the data model, improving workflow, utilization and adoption across the organization. Specifically, Salesforce as well as, Eventbrite, GetFeedback, FormAssembly, Volunteer Hub, and Active Network (camp software).
  • Lead and provide learning forums and training to cross-departmental Salesforce super user team
  • Ensures desired improvements and business routines are implemented and sustained by collaborating with stakeholders and through effective change management and communication
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of our Salesforce instance and other applications partnering with vendor, department leaders and system users to identify and implement enhancements
  • Acts as secondary approver to ongoing requests from users across the organization to address new or revised functionality requirements following recommendations of AV/ IT Technician
  • Manages Salesforce and all other application vendor relationships

Management

  • Directly supervise the AV/IT Technician
  • Coordinate outsourced IT services, working directly with the vendors as the relationship and in-house point of contact where needed as defined in the scope of work. Ensures vendor performance and adherence to contract
  • Negotiate and oversee multi-year contracts of external IT contractors and partners
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for IT expenses, including hardware and software purchases

Database and Knowledge Management

  • Manage IslandWood's systems, including Salesforce and Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, Active Network, Volunteer Hub, EventPro and associated contracts and release schedules (with IT technician). Lead the Technology Review Committee
  • Work with users to identify new and creative opportunities to leverage existing systems and identify additional business processes or functions
  • Coordinate development of new applications and updates to existing applications
  • Manage and partner with domain experts on the development of training plans. Create documentation protocols for database users; such that we keep materials current and effectively deliver new user and ongoing training sessions.
  • Understand and establish hierarchy for data / taxonomy strategy and assess integrations. Evaluate current data related manual work
  • Develop and implement a sustainable knowledge management strategy for the organization ensuring materials are digitized, organized and stored in an accessible and intuitive manner.

Information Technology

  • Approve workstation hardware changes and software distribution across the organization
  • Act as final approval IT Contractor and IT/AV Technician, coordinate Teams phones and cell phone usage for the organization
  • Proactively evaluates technology performance and capability while coordinating with web designers, web hosting, and IslandWood Communications Team to address technical issues related to the website, domain name use, and integration
  • Work with users to identify, document, and communicate IT standard business processes and procedures

Required:

  • Strong Salesforce database experience required
  • Minimum 5 years' management experience
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate and manage teams and initiatives
  • Strategic Systems thinker. Ability to create structure, processes and systems to align to organizational strategy understanding both business and technology goals. Ability to drive sustainable and timely change.
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders in a manner that is clear and actionable
  • Clear evidence of skill in cross functional collaboration and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrates sound decision-making under pressure, quickly diagnosing issues and problem-solving in a proactive manner
  • Demonstrates excellent judgement and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities
  • Technical skills and expertise commensurate with responsibilities. Knowledge of Microsoft O365 products required. Strong PC skills with expertise in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive), Google, and Apple products
  • Experience developing and managing to a budget - managing vendors, negotiations, service levels and contracts
