Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Appellate Attorney to join a well-established, nationally integrated mid-size business law firm. This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys with a substantial book of business to leverage the firm's expansive platform and cross-selling opportunities while enjoying flexibility and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in complex appellate matters in both state and federal courts.
• Draft appellate briefs and handle motions with precision and persuasive legal arguments.
• Manage and advise on all aspects of appellate litigation, including legal research, strategy, and oral arguments.
• Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's national platform on high-level litigation and appellate matters.
• Contribute to business development efforts and expand the client base.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in appellate law.
• Prior experience clerking in an appellate court, preferably a federal appellate court.
• Proven track record of drafting appellate briefs in state and federal courts.
• Admitted to the appellate bar of one or more federal circuit courts.
• Substantial and self-sufficient book of portable business (ideally $400,000+).
• For candidates with 10+ years of experience:
  • Four or more oral arguments in state and federal appellate courts.
  • Recognized as an appellate lawyer in their local or regional community.
• Active law license in good standing in the jurisdiction of residence.
