Basic Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or other related specialized Engineering area, or equivalent experience is required, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
Duties and Tasks:
Possess high level of manufacturing technical skills
Oversees the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing
methods, processes and operations for new and existing products
Establishes and ensures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance
requirements
Responsible for managing people, including performance evaluations and merit
recommendations
Works closely with product design/engineering to ensure new products are seamlessly
transitioned into production through a defined New Product Introduction process
Responsible for ensuring that all internal quality practices demonstrate compliance to
external regulations
Collaborate across departments-Lines of Business, Supply Chain Management, and
Engineering to ensure program objectives are aligned and understood
Manage all capital requirements in facilities and ensure equipment and machinery meet the
required safety, quality, and productivity requirements
Responsible for areas of lean manufacturing techniques, cost reduction, on-time delivery
performance, safety, visual controls and plant performance measurements
Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality
products at minimum costs
Acts as a liaison with engineering in releasing new products.
Implements and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects.
Designs, develops and transfers manufacturing engineering tools, strategies and systems.
Responsibility to lead other managers and/or supervisors related to a business area, project or
strategic activity
Typically leads a department(s) or large complex project or several smaller projects
concurrently to meet business and profitability growth objectives
Manages group activities to develop and implement long range goals and objectives to meet
business and stated profitability growth objectives

Reviews, updates and implements business strategic planning including sales, financial
performance and new product development
Leads team members and / or senior department staff to develop measurements to monitor
performance to established processes and procedures
Responsible for department plans and execution
Develops, monitors and manages department related activities including staffing
requirements, budgets, physical space, and capital
Communicates relevant department, group or project information to other related teams and
departments
Leads teams in resolving business related issues
Directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control,
integration, and completion of manufacturing efforts within areas of responsibility
Ensures process compliance of all manufacturing activity in areas of responsibility
Contributes to the development of strategies for pricing, program planning, risk management,
negotiations, and margin generation for programs at the proposal stage
Monitors the overall execution of process changes to improve overall efficiency of
manufacturing and the effects on current and future work (cost, cycle time, quality)
Establishes selection criteria for hiring senior members of operations staff and manages
hiring process
Leads and manages proposals within business area
Manages and reviews the development of operations schedules and baselines in response to
program direction, contract guidance and product lifecycle requirements
Leads efforts to identify schedule and resource risks and develop risk reduction plans
Manages process changes to improve overall efficiency of manufacturing
May lead team in development and execution of earned value requirements
Reviews operations plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain
manufacturing or outsourcing requirements to develop new products/markets
Regularly assesses performance of team members to established processes and procedures
Mentors and develops other operations managers and supervisors
Manages area to achieve all strategic goals
Regular communications with senior and division level management
Travel may be required
Security clearance may be required
May be responsible for multiple functions, locations, products, or technical abilities

Proficient background in Lean Methodologies to reduce overall costs in Operations
Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others
Possess strong negotiation skills and the ability to communicate professionally with people at
all levels of the organization, as well as external contacts
Possess regulatory knowledge of Industry requirements for health and safety
Proficient knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain Management and Procurement
