Job Description

Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
2. Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED; and
3. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Department Preferences
Departmental Preference: Strongly prefer National Board Certification in specialty in which you are assigned.

In addition to base compensation, you may also receive the following based on the Collectively-Bargained Agreement:
An annual education differential if you currently possess an appropriate degree in nursing or an allied health discipline from an accredited college or university, as listed below:
An annual certification differential of $1,878 if you currently hold an appropriate certification that is nationally recognized in the discipline or area of specialization for which you are employed.
An annual nursing experience differential ranging from $1,097 up to $9,100 for up to 10 years of experience if you have outside nursing experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
For NP (PC/BH) ONLY: An annual assignment differential ranging from $10,000 up to $25,000 if assigned to a Behavioral Health department AND regularly working evenings/nights

Job Description
SUMMARYOFESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs history and physical examinations on patients as directed by Physician, establishing the diagnosis, ordering of appropriate laboratory and other ancillary testing services and records findings
- Reviews patients' records.
- Administers injections, Suture wounds and wound care.
- Makes complete chart entries on all patient transactions following CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines as established by the AMA on the same day patient is seen.
- Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances following State of New York legal guidelines and recording same in-patient record.
- Provides counseling and instruction and education to patients.
- Assists physician by dictating patient progress notes, discharge summaries, etc. as directed by Physician.
- Triages patient phone calls, provides consultation and follows up as necessary and documents all conversations for the patient's chart on the same day as call was received.
- Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Assists in setting up OR room, positioning of patients. Assist with surgical procedure and postoperative care as directed by Physician.
- Assist with inpatient daily rounding as directed.
- Performs on-call responsibilities as directed by Physician.
- Performs emergency room duties as directed by Physician.

- Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Masters in allied health discipline = $1,200
- Doctorate in Education, Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing (DNP) = $2,500
