Position Summary

The Sr. Supply Chain Planner-Buyer will be responsible for coordinating with Project Management, Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT), and Quality to schedule production and maintain capacity plans for current and future activities. This role has the responsibility for ensuring the production plan can be achieved by planning and managing the procurement of raw materials, supplies, and services. This individual will prevent material/inventory shortages, resolve critical material needs and seek the best products through consolidating suppliers and identifying opportunities to reduce costs while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position will also support the development, implementation and utilization of an ERP system.

Key Responsibilities

Planning
  • Partner with MSAT team to identify lab and production floor capacity issues and recommend solutions.
  • Optimize the production schedule to ensure timelines are achieved while managing raw material and personnel availability.
  • Collaborate closely with the MSAT Team to understand GMP and non-GMP material needs and timeline
  • Understand and analyze how materials are used and predict future needs based on current data and forecasts.
  • Maintain appropriate safety stocks to ensure efficient flow throughout the manufacturing floor.
  • Participate in Client meetings and on project teams to communicate production timelines both for lab development activities and runs and material status when applicable.

Procurement
  • Responsible for strategic sourcing and procurement of all production and development lab materials to meet quality, cost and delivery requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including participation in MSA negotiations.
  • Negotiate best pricing, terms, and recognize opportunities to reduce cost, including consolidating suppliers while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Place purchase orders, verify delivery schedules, coordinate resolution of logistic issues with shipping and receiving staff and expedite materials to meet production needs.
  • Identify raw material delays, which could affect the production schedule and expedite materials as needed to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Reconcile invoice discrepancies to purchase orders with Finance.
  • Track and help resolve supplier non-conformance issues

Operations
  • Suggest and participate in process improvement initiatives for the department and for the business as needed.
  • Ensure all operations comply with Good Distribution Practices (GDP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other relevant pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, policies, and work instructions for planning and procurement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure availability for audits and inspections.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Education and Experience
  • HS Diploma with a preference for an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a scientific related field.
  • 8+ years of procurement / planning experience required, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience implementing ERP/MRP system (Netsuite or similiar)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GDP, GMP, and pharmaceutical handling regulations.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite- Advanced in Excel and other analytic reporting tools
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with good interpersonal communication skills

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods

Work Environment: Work is performed onsite in Philadelphia and remote.
