The Role

The Indigenous Services Manager will develop and implement a strong roadmap to raise NWP's profile in supporting Indigenous learners, community and employees. The Manager will play a pivotal role in Indigenous students' academic success and overall well-being while fostering a culturally inclusive and respectful campus environment. The role will provide leadership to the Indigenous Services team, ensuring they are equipped to offer tailored supports that meet the unique needs of Indigenous learners and their communities.

By leading initiatives such as cultural activities, mentorship opportunities, elder engagement, and transition supports, the Indigenous Services Manager will create pathways for students to thrive academically, socially, and personally. They will also collaborate with campus stakeholders to promote reconciliation, equity, and inclusion through the lens of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.

This position will focus on developing and refining processes to support student transition, retention, and success while fostering a supportive and culturally safe environment. This role will ensure students feel empowered, respected, and connected by guiding the Indigenous Services team, contributing to a stronger, more inclusive academic community for all.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business, Health Sciences, or Education with 2 years experience.

The necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
  • Knowledge of distinction-based community and Indigenous Governance;
  • Microsoft Office suite and other related software skills; Comfortable using Word, Excel, Zoom, Outlook, Teams etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of student-based programs.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Protocols.
  • Class 5 driver's license.
