Position Summary

Responsible to the Medical Director/Co-Leader in the Ambulatory environment and the Residency Program Director and Designated Institutional Official. The Physician has responsibility for supervising of residents and the provision of care of assigned patients within LRH, and for the care and treatment of patients seen in consultation with other Lakeland Regional Health (LRH) clinical departments. As an active member of the hospital medical staff, the Physician role models the organization's mission, goals, culture, and vision in all interactions with staff and in the provision of clinical care. As a medical provider, the Physician works with the Residency Program Leadership and other members of the treatment team in the development of clinical programs.

  • Actively participates in team development, program meetings, educational activities, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
  • Provides quality clinical care to assigned patients admitted to the various treatment programs in the inpatient adult/pediatric, and ambulatory environments. Provide call coverage as scheduled. Provides care in keeping with the Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of LRHMG.
  • Carries out job duties in a manner that enhances positive professional relationships with hospital staff, residents, patients, families, and other physicians.
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned. Participates in and leads scholarly activity and quality improvement projects.
  • Works within the multi-disciplinary team structure to facilitate positive treatment outcomes.
  • Serves as a clinical supervisor and educator for residents, students, and other clinicians as assigned. Provides direct patient care to private patient panel.
  • Strives to develop clinical patient care opportunities that meet the care needs of the Lakeland area and are in keeping with the Mission of the hospital.
  • Serves as a role model, mentor, and advisor to residents as needed. Provides career counseling and participates in resident remediation activities, simulation, and didactic activities.
  • Provides oversight to the Practice's Standard Operating Procedures as needed. Monitors resident work hours.
  • Completes formal evaluation of resident educational and clinical performance at in accordance with the requirements for accreditation and training, the curriculum, and program policies. Completes all required paperwork for student and resident rotation evaluations, and serves on residency committees as assigned.
  • Completes other duties as assigned and duties delineated in contract.

• Medical Degree

Essential:

• Medical Degree ( M.D. or D.O. ) and accredited Residency training

Other information:
Experience Essential:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible with completion of certification as delineated within Lakeland Regional Health Medical Staff Office Bylaws.
- Have unrestricted credentials within the Department of Family Medicine of Lakeland Regional Medical Center and be licensed to practice medicine by the State of Florida.
- Appointed and in good standing to the LRH medical staff. Be appointed in good standing to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
- Possess the required specialty expertise, as well as documented educational and administrative abilities, to carry out the responsibilities of the role and to achieve the goals and objectives of the program.
- Be clinically active in Family Medicine.

Experience Preferred:
- Experience with residency precepting.

Certifications Essential:
- Be certified by the American Board of Family Medicine or hold credentials deemed equivalent to Certification by the ACGME's Family Medicine Residency Review Committee.

Licenses Essential:
- Current Florida License to practice Medicine in the State of Florida.
