Role Description

The Senior Financial Analyst, Commercial Finance will play a critical role in helping to scale Simple Mills' Commercial Finance team. This role will work cross-functionally to deliver insightful reporting and analysis to support Sales, Marketing and Operations. The Senior Financial Analyst, Commercial Finance will report to the Commercial Finance Manager and will be responsible for:
  • Owning sales forecasting for key accounts/sales channels.
  • Partnering with Sales and Marketing to build assumptions for velocity, distribution and promotion.
  • Working with stakeholders across the business, including senior leaders, to set targets and budgets for the company during the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) cycle.
  • Collaborating with the Sales team to plan and optimize sales promotions using a Trade Promotion Management system, communicating trends, insights and variances against forecast.
  • Partnering with the Marketing team on budget management by analyzing variances to budget and understanding the strategic drivers for spend.
  • Completing ad-hoc financial analysis to support cross-functional decision-making and present findings and recommendations to company leaders.
  • Identifying areas and implementing recommendations for continuous process improvement.
  • Supporting Simple Mills' people development by strengthening the financial acumen of cross-functional partners and building a foundation of strong financial stewardship.
  • Performs other projects as assigned

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience in a Finance/Accounting focused role
  • Proficiency with syndicated data sources (Circana, Nielsen, SPINS).
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Experience with budget management preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and financial modeling experience.
  • Experience with Power BI

Work Model at Simple Mills

Our work model is role-dependent, and team focused. With remote, hybrid, or in-office positions, each role is classified by what best supports the needs of the team.
  • This position will be hybrid: a balance of in-person and virtual work. Hybrid employees will work from our Chicago, IL office at least once per week. When working remotely, employees must work from a designated location in the United States (the new hire's permanent residence, as documented in our HR System, Rippling) with sufficient internet access to support video conferencing.
