Job Responsibilities
Serves on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team providing evidenced based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services in accordance with the fidelity model . This is a single fixed point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation, and support needs for patients with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who require higher levels of community care and have not been well supported in lower level of care options.
This position is located at the Orangeburg Area Department of Mental Health, 2319 St. Matthews Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center / OAMHC is an approved site of the National
Health Service Corps, (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000 to employees of NHSC-approved sites. You must be a US citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired, and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two year service commitment required as well. Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.
Who We Are
Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center is part of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center/OAMHC provides mental health services to individuals in Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg and Holly Hill Counties.
Provides direct services to ACT patients to include but not limited to assessing the health, social, psychiatric and medical needs of the Center patients; administering scheduled intramuscular medications to patients as order by prescribe er; monitoring patients regularly for beneficial effects, and other medication related issues; and developing strategies to maximize taking medications as prescribed.
Engages in health promotion, prevention and education activities.
Ensures patients are seen in accordance with their needs Medical / psychiatric appointments.
Completes medical documentation using collaborative documentation and ensures services are documented in accordance with SCDMH/QA requirements.
Participates in clinical supervision and daily treatment team meetings.
Complies with Corporate Compliance, Policy and Risk Management Plan. Ensures timely completion of prior authorizations. Pursues professional, development through collegial consultation, continuing education and licenses.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
DMH Requirement: Graduation form an accredited school of nursing.
Agency Requirement: A bachelor's degree in nursing and 2 years' experience, or 3-year diploma and 2 years' experience, or an associate degree in nursing and 2 years as a registered nurse 1 years of which must have been in a community health program. 1 year experience working with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and working knowledge of psychiatric medications. Licensed as a registered nurse by the SC Board of Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of normal and abnormal behavior adjustment techniques. Knowledge of clinical practices and interviewing techniques. Knowledge of legal principals and practices. Knowledge of investigative techniques, principles and practices. Knowledge of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling services. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws or regulations pertaining to a social service program. Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established objectives. Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment interventions.
