Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Equity, Civil Rights and Title IX, the Director of the Prevention, Education, Assistance, and Resources (PEAR) Department is responsible for leading a team to provide sexual misconduct and relationship violence prevention education and outreach programming for employees of U-M Ann Arbor and Michigan Medicine, U-M Flint, and U-M Dearborn. The Director is responsible for working collaboratively with Title IX leadership and other collaborators on campus to develop and implement plans relating to university-wide education and outreach programs that are grounded in research and national best practices, aligned with institutional values, compliant with legal requirements, and support the University's goal to become a national model for innovative and effective prevention programs. The Director oversees all PEAR staff, volunteers, and liaisons.

Responsibilities*
Department Leadership, Administration, and Program Management
- Lead the PEAR Department in providing comprehensive sexual misconduct prevention programs for UM employees.
Manage and supervise PEAR program staff - Consult and partner with U-M Title IX Coordinators to support compliance with University policies as well as federal, state, and local legal requirements pertaining to sexual and relationship violence including Title IX, the annual Michigan higher education budget law, and Clery Act/VAWA through development and delivery of prevention and outreach programs to employees.
- Work with school and college leadership, departmental leaders, and others across campus to meet specific training and prevention needs of departments, units, schools, and colleges. As needed, assist leaders in creating ongoing prevention plans for their units.
- Oversee the PEAR team to support engagements with departments, units, and organizations that need specific support after an incident of sexual misconduct in their organization or after department climate surveys.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center to align campus prevention efforts.
- Assess program effectiveness and work proactively to continuously improve education and outreach programs.
- Oversee content development for online learning curriculum for employees to ensure programs are integrated with broader prevention education efforts, meet compliance requirements, and align with prevention education best practices.
- Lead efforts to seek input from community members to support the development, delivery, and enhancement of programs to meet the needs of various communities at UM.
- Maintain professional knowledge including relevant federal and state law and regulations, national best practice, and current research.
- Ensure robust documentation and data compilation related to PEAR's work.
- Assess unit resource needs; develop and recommend annual departmental and project budgets.
- Represent, or assign a designee to represent, PEAR on campus committees, councils and task forces.
- Provide, or assign a designee to provide, training and presentations as needed to campus, community partners or professional associations.
Institutional Leadership and Collaboration
- Serve on and work collaboratively with campus committees to recommend new and innovative programs.
- Create and sustain collaborations with departments and units throughout the institution to support local prevention efforts.
- Collaborate effectively with other campus entities and academic units, including SAPAC (Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center, Organizational Learning, Center for Research on Learning and Teaching, Human Resources, and others.
- Work with institutional partners to develop and manage related strategic communications and media relations.
- Provide consultation based on content expertise to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications*
- Master's degree required or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the field of sexual and gender-based misconduct, including but not limited to prevention programming, responding to discrimination and harassment.
- Title IX compliance experience, or experience collaborating with individuals responsible for Title IX compliance.
- Minimum of 3 years working in a higher education setting, engaging with students, faculty, and staff.
- Knowledge of and skills in using restorative practices to address harm in a community.
- A proven track record of specialized knowledge and leadership experience in creating and providing prevention education and programs related to sexual misconduct, particularly using a public health approach to violence prevention.
- Well-developed leadership, management, and supervisory skills to lead a team of experts and prevention professionals.
- Strong administrative skills to navigate complex organizations and a large decentralized system.
- Experience with effective management of fiscal resources.
- Knowledge of assessment, evaluation, and research methodologies, especially related to learning outcomes, learning environments, campus climate assessment and program evaluation.
- Experience working with diverse and underserved student and staff populations. Knowledge of multicultural organizational development desired.
- Experience building and sustaining dynamic collaborative working relationships with a wide range of campus and community partners.
- Knowledge and experience in developing and sustaining strategic national partnerships; demonstrated national thought leadership experience desired.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and experience with developing communication strategies.
