Plant Director

Karma Automotive is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Director to oversee our state-of-the-art automotive assembly and battery manufacturing plant in Moreno Valley, California.

The Plant Director will ensure employee safety, maintain high standards of quality, execute efficient and effective operations, and drive a culture of continuous improvement. The Plant Director is responsible for driving world class excellence in plant Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale (SQDCM).

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

Leadership and Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of managers, supervisors, engineers, and production staff.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceed requirements in compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality control programs, including ISO 9000 and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Create a path to zero defects by establishing a roadmap and implementing effective management cadences.

Production Oversight:
  • Oversee daily operations of the automotive assembly and battery manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement production schedules and implement constraint management protocols to meet customer demands and company goals.
  • Monitor production metrics and implement corrective actions to address any deviations.

Operational Efficiency:
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Establish effective business operations cadences to drive improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Employee Morale.
  • Implement theory of constraints, lean manufacturing principles, and other process improvement techniques.

Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies to support the growth and sustainability of the plant.
  • Work with People Strategy and local community resources to ensure the development of a qualified workforce to support plant growth.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align plant operations with company objectives.
  • Stay current on industry trends and automotive and battery manufacturing technology advancements.

Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers, customers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, sales, finance, and People Strategy, to ensure seamless operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in plant management, preferably in the automotive or battery manufacturing industry. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies is preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions will benefit the successful candidate.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job in an indoor office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may spend 100% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment.

Compensation:

$200,000 - $225,000 /annual salary. Compensation will vary DOE.

At Karma, our base pay is one part of our total rewards package.

Compensation offered may vary on multiple factors, including market location, education, skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position being offered.
