An Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, modifying, and programming mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, with a focus on stage automation and power distribution. This includes developing and programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software to automate machinery, as well as handling hardware and software design, testing, and debugging. This role also requires travel to customer locations or other company facilities to conduct on-site tasks such as system testing, commissioning start-ups, troubleshooting field wiring, and delivering customer training. Additionally, the Automation Engineer creates installation and maintenance documentation and collaborates across departments to support new products and provide technical assistance for existing systems.
Special consideration will be given to candidates with significant experience in stage automation, especially those with a background in operating and maintaining equipment for concerts, sports events, and theater productions. Applicants who are familiar with the types of equipment and grid systems commonly used in the entertainment industry may be an ideal fit, as they will better understand how system designs are applied in the customer's environment.

1.1 Education
1.1.1 Required: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics.
1.1.1.1 Twelve years of experience working as an automation or a controls engineer may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
1.1.2 Preferred: Not applicable.
1.2 Experience
1.2.1.1 Experience designing and troubleshooting systems that contain Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, and Modicon control systems.
1.2.1.2 Experience with PLC programming in accordance with IEC 61131-3 Programmable controllers - Programming languages (such as ladder logic, structured text and function block).
1.2.1.3 Experience using Autodesk software suite, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Inventor to create schematics, control documents, and 3D models of parts and assemblies.
1.2.1.4 Experience with HMI and SCADA systems.
1.2.1.5 Experience with AC/DC motors, both fixed and variable speed.
1.2.1.6 Familiarity with fieldbuses and industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet IP, Ethernet TCP/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet, etc.
1.2.1.7 Experience selecting and integrating sensors.
1.2.1.8 Experience debugging and troubleshooting control systems.
1.2.1.9 Experience with entertainment industry automation is beneficial but not required.

- Compensation: Starting Salary Exempt, $76,000-$98,000/Year based on education, experience, and related certifications.
- The base of the range anticipates that mentoring and frequent direct supervision are a vital component in daily activities, while the high end of the range anticipates the ability to quickly grasp job necessary job knowledge thus requiring less frequent mentoring and supervision.
