Role Summary:

The 50 South Capital Co-Invest Junior Professional will work directly with other members of the 50 South Capital private equity investment team to source, evaluate, underwrite, execute, and monitor direct buyout co-investments. The selected candidate will exhibit strong investment analytical abilities as well as strong interpersonal skills. We are seeking candidates with excellent academic achievements, 3+ years of relevant industry experience, and advanced skills in the sourcing and due diligence process for direct co-investments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working directly with other team members to support the sourcing of direct co-investment opportunities from buyout managers in the US and Europe.
  • Reviewing new investment opportunities and assisting in all aspects of the due diligence process for direct equity co-investments.
  • Assisting in the co-investment process and coordinating with various participants, including the sponsor, legal advisors, industry advisors, accountants and other various constituencies.
  • Communicating thoughts and opinions on opportunities in a succinct, effective way, including identifying the key strengths and risks, and determining how certain information will be presented.
  • Participating in the preparation of diligence materials as well as assisting with the creation of Investment Committee Memorandums.
  • Supporting fundraising activities, including identification of prospective investors, participation in fundraising meetings, and working with partners, clients and investors in the entire fundraising process.
  • Monitoring the overall performance of our investments, participating in the creation and presentation of materials for quarterly portfolio reviews.
  • Demonstrating accountability, initiative, trustworthiness, a dedication to teamwork, a positive attitude, and thoughtful judgment.
  • Maintaining an ongoing dialogue and relationship with buyout firms including attendance in update calls, in-person meetings, and annual meetings. The position requires travel.
  • Representing 50 South Capital in an exemplary fashion to external industry participants in order to develop the Firm's brand reputation in the market.


Necessary Experience, Education, and Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience within private equity, investment banking, transaction advisory services, leveraged finance, consulting, public accounting or corporate finance.
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in business, finance, accounting, or economics preferred.
  • High attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work within a collegial, team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Highly-developed analytical ability, curiosity.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and to work on a number of projects concurrently.
  • Strong business and interpersonal judgment skills with ability to assess both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of an investment.
  • Knowledge of basic financial analysis and the valuation of private companies.
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


Salary Range:
$80,800 - 133,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
