Job Summary

This position is responsible for integrating the organization's strategic plan with operations and is accountable for tactical performance, business operations and supervision of key institutional leaders. The COO is expected to act in the absence of the CEO.

Compensation

We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Compensation for executives consist of a fixed component (base salary) and a variable component (bonus). The base salary is determined by a combination of experience, qualifications, and performance within the wage range of the salary grade for the position. The wage range for this position is: $189,600 - $284,000 annually. This range reflects the base salary for this position. Bonus opportunity is based on performance relative to certain annual objectives and is subject to NH+C's financial performance for the year.

Key Accountabilities
  • Strategic Management
    • Communicates the mission, values and strategic plan.
    • Participates in the development and communication of organizational goals and objectives.
    • Implement strategies and plans that align with the short- and long-term objectives developed in tandem with CEO.
    • Work cooperatively with the CEO, CFO, CMO and CNE to develop and implement the features of a "High Value Organization."
  • Operational
    • Oversee the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the organization.
    • Managing relationships with partners/vendors
    • Participating in expansion activities (investments; acquisitions; corporate alliances etc.)
    • Preparing and presenting reports to the CEO and Hospital Board.
  • Financial
    • Setting comprehensive goals for performance and growth.
    • Evaluating performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
    • Manage capital investments and expenses to ensure that the facility achieves targets for growth and profitability.
    • Work closely with CEO and CFO on all financial matters.
  • Human Resource Management
    • Interviews and hires applicants.
    • Cultivates an atmosphere that promotes recruitment, retention, and employee appreciation. Promotes good employee relations.
    • Establishes and maintains a climate in which personnel can attain their maximum potential in performance.
    • Prepares and reviews personnel performance evaluations and develops corrective action plans if needed.
    • Assure appropriate staff development for direct reports.
  • Performance Improvement/Quality Assurance
    • Monitors, implements, and participates in continuous quality improvement processes.
    • Communicates with various departments, Department Directors, and Medical Staff to resolve operational problems and improve quality of services.
    • Member of the Hospital Board Quality Committee.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business, healthcare or related field.
  • Ten years' healthcare management experience
  • Proven track record of financial, clinical and quality success
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Agreement/alignment with NH+C's mission, vision and values

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous COO or senior executive experience
  • Experience with healthcare delivery networks, integrated systems or ACOs
  • Must be able to balance conflicting priorities and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Must be able to adjust work schedule to match job requirements (e.g. occasional evening or early morning meetings)
