What You Will Do

This position will be filled at the professional Staff Assistant Level 1

The Plutonium Capability Transuranic Waste Management Group (NPI-6) is seeking a highly motivated, customer service focused and experience Professional Staff Assistant (PSA) to join our team.

The Plutonium Capability Transuranic Waste Management group (NPI-6) supports transuranic (TRU) waste producing processes to achieve plutonium mission success at PF-4, the analytical chemistry and materials science support facilities (CMR and RLUOB), and the solid and liquid waste facilities (RLWTF, and WCRRF). NPI-6 ensures safe, efficient and compliant management of TRU materials destined for final disposal at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, NM. NPI-6 supports a variety of defense and non-defense programs including pit production and surveillance, ARIES, NASA heat sources, integration with ALDPI in support of construction, and other programs.

NPI-6's primary mission is to support National Security and National Science Missions for LANL, through the Associate Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP), to successfully execute its mission assignments involving nuclear, science, technology and weapons components. Professional Staff Assistant 1

As a Professional Staff Assistant, you will be required to provide professional level administrative support to and interact daily with the NPI-6 Group Leader as well as all levels of internal and external Laboratory customers. You will be expected to maintain a professional office atmosphere that fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment free from discrimination and harassment. Under established supervision, you will assume responsibility for completing all assigned tasks while demonstrating a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, initiative, versatility, tact, and confidentiality in all matters. Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to conducting research, assembling data for assigned projects; composing a variety of reports and/or presentations; coordinating logistics, scheduling, and facilitation of meetings and/or conferences; handling sensitive and/or classified information. You must understand and adhere to all Laboratory and regulatory policies and procedures.

Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills are a necessity for this role. Excellent knowledge of and experience with standardized software packages is a must as is the ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks under strict deadlines.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law.
