Sr Java JIT Compiler Engineer

Founded in 2016, we are a fully funded semiconductor startup building a processor combining the functionality of a CPU, GPU, and TPU for heavy AI/ML workloads!

We are seeking a Senior Java JIT Compiler Engineer who's local or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area or Las Vegas to work with our team in a hybrid capacity.

This role involves developing and optimizing Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation techniques to enhance the performance of Java applications, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the overall architecture of our JIT compiler.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced JIT compilation strategies for Java applications
• Optimize existing JIT compiler performance and enhance execution speed
• Analyze and debug Java bytecode to identify performance bottlenecks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate JIT compiler features into the JVM
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers on the team
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in compiler technology and JVM internals

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience in Java & C++ programming including JVM internal architecture
• Strong understanding of performance optimization techniques in compilation
• Experience in reading and debugging Java bytecode
• Prior experience with Java JIT compilers
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to mentor others
